Today makes 7 weeks since my surgery! I am down 50lbs as of this morning!!!
What an amazing gift and trip this has been. I have absolutely no regrets except that I wish I had thought about this about 5 years ago. For anyone thinking about whether or not to have the surgery, my vote, recommendation, and / or advice is absolutely DO IT!
Some things I've learned and some things I'm still figuring out.....
One of them is definitely that the head game is much harder than the physical one. Really have come to recognize that I'm still struggling with the fact that food has played a huge part of my life for a really long time. I became accustomed to big, long drawn out meals and that is no longer possible. Its just a weird feeling sitting eating dinner with family / friends and not eating.... or only eating 1/5th of the food.
I need to remember that when I make a meal, I can put 1/2 of it back before even starting.... I'm getting better at this, but its a challenge!
Some cool things:
I went mountain biking for the first time in years! It was awesome and a lot of fun. I was certain that I had likely killed the dog who ran the entire 5 mile ride through the woods. My son (9 years old) is very excited to go biking with me soon (we got 20" of snow 2 days after my ride). Now we're waiting for the snow to melt.
Had to buy some new clothes before I came back to work. It was fun to try on clothes in sizes I couldn't even think of wearing 2 - 3 months ago. I went through my closet / drawers and put a ton of clothes (way to big now) into a big bag.
No more high blood pressure medication!!! Three weeks after surgery my BP was so low I could barely stand up.
Diabetes no more! My diabetes is now gone! This was the primary reason I decided to have the surgery!
I still can't believe I lost 50lbs in 7 weeks!
I put a before and after photo below!
