    Default 3 Miles!

Enjoying the sunny south with my first three mile walk since fracturing my C2 vertebrae and breaking 2 ribs on Super Bowl Sunday. I feel good! Still have to be careful as I'm in a cervical collar and it's a little more difficult to watch where you step, look for cars, or anything involving turning my head. The doctor gave me permission (finally) for walking on flat surfaces.

No clue when I'll be running again, I imagine that will be quite a while. But I do hope to be back to my woods as soon as I get this thing off my neck. I miss my woods, but I need to be able to see the rocks and roots so I don't fall.

The good thing is I haven't gained any weight back during this lack of exercise period. And I'm alive, that's the really good thing.

Just posted this to another post: I started running post-sleeve, hadn't ran for over 30 years! I think for at least a year post surgery I walked and hiked, then started running just a tiny part of my route, then added a little more the next time, and kept it up like that until I was running the whole 3 miles I used to walk. Baby steps. I love(d) running. I know they have programs out there to follow, but this way worked for me. Before I got hurt I was running 3 miles every morning before school.
