Default My whole body is wibbly wobbley

    Hi

Since my surgery (had sleeve done 3/7 and lost 5 kg so far) I find my whole body feels like jello. I desperately want to do some sort of exercise, idk leg or arm lifts etc. Is it too soon?

I am also REALLY struggling with my liquids. I probably consume 200ml water, 150ml protein shake and 200ml cup of tea all day and that's it.

Feeling a bit desperate. I read that if you don't stay hydrated your weight loss is halted.

    Any advice please

    Thanks!

Right now you shouldn't really being much more than some walking but you can always check with what your surgeon says. Every surgeon has different rules. As for fluids, it is very hard in the beginning to get it in. You need to sip constantly. Set a timer if you must. I did better with warm liquids such as tea, broth, and creamed soups made with skim milk. Most people, regardless how well they are doing, will experience a stall somewhere between weeks 3 and 5. Completely normal and you will start losing again. The biggest thing is to relax. If you stress too much it can affect you. Just try your best to get in your fluids and protein. Most people don't meet their protein/fluid goals for quite a while. Good luck.

You are still to early into your post op journey to worry about any exercise other then walking, your lack of hydration could be leading to your wobbly feelings. For those non metric folks the poster has said they are only drinking roughly 19 ounces a day. I would suggest taking a sip of fluid every 2 minutes try timing it out and see how your fluid intake goes that way.

You surgeon should clear you for work out at your one month post-op. Until then walking is fine but try not to exercise too hard because you still need to rest and get better from surgery. Walking should be fine.
I had a hard time to drink more than one liter per day for months (may be 3 or 4) and same for protein, for three months I couldn't reach those 60gr per day. The best thing to do is try your best to drink little by little all day, try different temperatures. At some point iced cold water worked better for me. Or warm chicken broth too.
For the first six months, when I lost the most and the quickest, my skin looked really bad but it did bounce back. So no worries here, it's all temporary, as soon as you will drink more your skin will look better and more hydrated, and after a few month with toning it will look better too. Of course after losing so much weight my skin is not as good as 20 years ago, but I prefer to have a little floppy skin and feel the way I feel today. I can do so much and not feel dead tired like I was 2 years ago! From month 3 I started to take my omega supplements again and it did help also. Using lotion everyday after the shower will also give some hydration. Good luck and take care.

Ahhhh thank you all for your replies.

I will certainly have to plan out my liquids in order to make sure I get them all in. I think I will pour all my drinks out into 200ml cups and leave them in the fridge thus forcing me to take one up and sip it. I didn't know we had to wait so long to exercise so I will continue walking as this I enjoy. I'm lucky as I have taken 8 weeks off work to completely adjust to this new way of life.....I guess I'm trying to run before I can walk - no pun intended

Right now I would work on my protein and liquids, don't worry about exercising until you feel stronger. I remember my first few walks around the block feeling sort of dizzy, so stepped back a little. But in no time you'll be able to exercise. Start slow and build up distance over time. "Baby steps!" Best of luck to you.

I even followed my "baby step" policy to become a runner. By then I was walking three miles a day, and started running just little parts of my walk, until I worked up to running the whole thing after a few months. Recently I suffered a fall and major injury, so will have to follow my own advice when I'm cleared for exercise again, hopefully soon.

I didnt read what everyone else wrote but you might try sf popsicles if you have trouble drinking more fluids. Jello is good too.

Thank you. I'm going to buy lolly moulds and make some or maybe add extra protein powder to a ready made protein drink and freeze it to make ice cream
