Default This Pre Op diet is rough.

Day 3 of the pre op liquid diet, and 6 more to go. Good news is that I have lost 10 more pounds since Wednesday's weigh in at the surgeon's office. TEN pounds in 3 days. I'm down 40 POUNDS since beginning this life changing way of my life! Bad news is: The Isopure Zero Carb drink is something I don't think I will ever warm up to. I have the Blue Raspberry and if I don't sniff the contents of the bottle once the cap comes off, I am not as nauseated, and I don't have that "smell" emanating like a bad perfume (whey protien I am assuming?). Once I drink it, 10 oz.; 3x a day; I try and block my sinuses from tasting it. I bought a few bottles of the Pineapple Orange Banana flavor and that was OK, but still nothing to write home about. And I have this to look forward to for the first week following surgery.
Even my beloved broth tastes like feet (or how I would imagine a pair of stinky feet to taste, LOL!). But I know this is necessary and I know there will be a reward at the end of this last leg of my journey to my new healthier me!

You are right the protein drinks, etc. taste horrible but just keep thinking about your goal and that will help you get through. Keep staying focused and you will do great.

I remember how bad that was but looking back almost three months later, it was very much worth the nasty smells and taste. Good luck to you and stay strong!

My sentiments exactly! I've been through SO much during these last 2 3/4 months to get here, and I can do the remaining days.

Congratulations desertgirl, Keep up the good work and don't cheat!!! If you wanted to try Premiere protein drinks instead of the ones they gave you should be fine. Its what I used and they taste good. They are 30gms of protein, 1gm of sugar and only 160cal. I'd try a different soup cube. Walmart carries a good tasting soup cube. I'm sorry you have to endure nasty stuff before. It will get better and be worth it in the end and your already being rewarded with your big weightloss. I just had bloodwork since before preop diet with my other doctor. It was the best its been in a long time. My liver function numbers were great too. One of my numbers in 10-2016 was 80 now 22. Amazing. Good luck when you have surgery. A prayer said for you and the medical staff.

Tamera, I love the Premier Protein drinks and I am STOCKED up with them. I have faithfully been following their isopure drinks, and wondered why I couldn't just drink the Premier instead. It would taste better, for sure. I picked up some bouillon cubes and will try that for dinner tonight.
When I saw my primary care Dr this past Thursday to go over labs had done a week ago, she told me that I could stop my high bp and cholesterol pills because my levels were normal, and this was from the weight I've already dropped pre op. She said that with the weight loss that is to come after surgery, she's not concerned I'll need to be the pills, and I see her in 5 weeks.

Donald, believe me... I would love to rip into a bagel but my brain is stopping me. (Heck, for that matter I could tear through drywall and eat it.) I keep telling myself "it's only 5 days and a wake up... I can do this."

Yes Ann, I have my eye on the ball. I am counting down until I can drink something else and have my "surgery calendar" marked for when I can start that. It's less than a week to go... not too much longer.

Yes Lori!!! I found the ISOPURE drinks to be disgusting!! I mean they are shit!!! LOL. I still have some in my pantry that I know I will not drink. You got this, just a little longer and it will just be a bad memory. LOL. And once you get past all this in a few months you are going to be so glad for all the hard work you put in. Your commitment is a great example for all the newbies on here.

Thanks Christie. I have been committed since I made the appointment to see the surgeon. I know in my heart that I can't yo-yo diet anymore.., and this surgery and how I have changed my eating over the last few months, are proof as to my commitment. Looking forward to all this pre op and the next month or so to BE OVER with and just be a bad memory like you said, so I can get on with my new life.
