Sounds like you're doing great!
When you walk after surgery, once you get home, do you go outside walking? I mean, are most people able to venture out? That's my plan, but maybe I'm dreaming? Our home/property is pretty good sized so I could walk a lot in and around the yards, but prefer to walk around the street and pathways in the small park adjacent to our house.

The surgical hospital where I was sleeved had me up and walking approximately one hour after I awakened from the anesthesia. Their staff got me up to walk around the nurses station hourly until I discharged to home later that night.
I felt fine enough to start walking longer distances on my fourth postoperative day.

Post-op it's important to rest. Walk every day is important too but it's not a race. Do it until you feel tired.
The first weeks after surgery I was really tired and dealing with dehydration. So don't forget to drink often and take a rest if you feel dizzy.
My surgeon cleared me for work out at my one month post-op, but I was allowed to walk as much as needed before that.

You can walk as much as you want as long as your surgeon allows it. I think it may be better to take shorter walks more often then a really long walk once a day. Multiple walks help reduce the risk of blood clots, plus you aren't as likely to get tired out part way through the walk. Remember, when you walk away from home a mile you still need to get back here me.
Do whatever you can comfortably do. My surgeon wanted us up to 10,000 steps ASAP. just so happened I walked 2 miles the day after surgery and probably a little more than that the 2nd and 3rd day because I was shopping and traveling. I was a complete slug day 5 and barely left my couch (it was Christmas Day) and back to work logging 10,000-12,000 steps starting day 7.
Holy shit! You people are crazy! I kid, but damn! I've only been tracking my steps since last July, but since then I've hit 6,000 steps once on July 10th and 15,000 steps once on March 4th. The rest of the time I get about 1,000 - 2,000 and a lot of times even less. I knew I was lazy, but Wow!! Oh, and when I hit those 15,000 steps a few days ago, I gained three freaking pounds the next day!!! I'll never leave my couch again.

Well, I've seen on one of my relative what it does to stay on a sofa all day long....we have the same body type and health issues : she has been much much bigger than me compared to my HW pre-op (yes it's unfortunately possible), had many more health issues (she has metal in her abdomen to repair an awful hernia) and her asthma is much worth also because she doesn't exercise at all. I always tried to walk a minimum because in the back of my mind it was one thing I could do right to help with my multiple issues. I was usually trying to be around 5000 steps per day. Since the surgery I was able to increase it gradually, but right now it's back to baby steps with the stupid double tendonitis. Anyway, I'm convinced that if my muscle mass is so good and if I was able to avoid diabetes (many have it in my family and I had gestational diabetes which is a sign it could come later on) it's because I forced myself to walk. It does lower sugar levels but also cholesterol...it's simple, doesn't cost much and I could walk everywhere.
Of course when I was over 300 pounds walking was painful and I was slow as a snail...but at least I could do that...

Great Job. First week I took frequent small walks, week two I started walking 36 miles a week. My only complaint is my Fitbit watch isn't waterproof and I added 80min swimming sessions twice a week. I walk, bike, the procore elliptical and lifting weights using Sm amount of weight until I hit 8 weeks. I also started doing easy core work. Will amp it up after week eight.
Just make sure not to overdo it and follow your surgeons post-op exercise plan.
I was very tired from the surgery post-op and am amazed at the people that could really jump into exercising. I took small, frequent walks because I tired easily until week 6. Then, it was like a switch was turned and all my energy was back. I still don't LOVE exercise, but force myself 3 times a week. I play golf a couple of times a week, but my Fitbit tells me that my steps average about 4000 per day...not much, but it's mine, haha!
I was sleeved in Mexico, so all of my walking the first 3 days was outside.....walked to Walmart a couple times/day and went shopping on Avenude Revolucion. Did a lot of walking around the airports and out to long term parking when traveling home. Unfortunately, once home it was cold, snowy and icy (Idaho mountains in December) so other than going out to feed horses and at work, I did a lot of my walking on my roommate's treadmill. My food always seemed to move through better and I was more comfortable if I got up and walked after a meal.
Do what you feel up to! Very early on I would feel a little dizziness while walking, so knew I was overdoing it. But it took no time at all to build up to 3 miles a day. (For a contest with my support group I did 6 miles a day for about 5 months. I won.) Now I'm into hiking, running, and walking. Did a Country Walkers trip to Glacier National Park last summer, doing the same in Utah this summer.
