30 Days Today! How's everyone doing this week?

30 days under my belt and 27lbs down. I was hoping for 30 pounds, but I'll take what I can get. New issue with me is acid reflux, it's terrible still (think I mentioned it last week). Meds the surgeon gave me didn't work so going to see Gastro tomorrow for her opinion. It's keeping me from sleeping, which is making me exhausted during the day. No meals before bed (2 hours min), no spicy food, etc. Not sure what the heck is going on?

Question for you veterans. When can you use a straw? Am I safe now?

I had a lot of acid reflux too, but it does get better. I found Walgreens has their own brand of Acid Controller that is a chewable. It's called Acid Controller Complete and it's like taking a zantac and tums at the same time. Pretty good stuff.

Also, I have recently been using Digestzen oil from Doterra on my stomach when it is upset or I have a lot of acid and that seems to help too. In fact, I think this has worked better than some of the antacids. I just rub 2-3 drops on my belly and I the pain goes away!

The 'no straw' rule is to help prevent you from swallowing air, and/or taking too big of a swallow. The small straws are normally fine. I use straws and have zero issues.

Congrats on your first 30 days. Have you tried sleeping with your head elevated? The first thing my doctor ever told me to try and this was long before surgery for my acid reflux was elevating my head.

I was allowed to use a straw and never had any issues with it. I also had a lot of reflux in the beginning but it is pretty much mostly gone now. But it used to be brutal. I was taking Prilosec and tums and slept elevated. I also seemed to get relief from drinking warm liquids before bed like tea.
