    Default Pure Crystal Light?

Have any of you tried this? The nutritionist gave me the papers a month ago on my eating (or should I say DRINKING) schedule after surgery and she has PURE crystal light on there and PURE is underlined 3x. I have been to the moon and back looking for it and finally found a box at the grocery store. The only flavor was Mango Tangerine. I tried one packet and it was meh. So today I went back to see if they had lemonade flavor and right next to it was SUGAR FREE Country Time pink lemonade, that wasn't there a week ago. I compared the nutritional info on the packaging and the PURE Crystal Light has 15 calories, 3g sugar, 3 carbs and 10g of sodium. The SUGAR FREE Country Time has 5 calories, 0 sugar, 0 carbs, 0 sodium. So my question is: Is it better to have 3g of sugar and 3g carbs and 10g sodium instead of nothing, nutritional wise?

Good question's. I've never heard of pure Chrystal light. Only Crystal light which is sweetened with aspartame has very little calories zero sodium it's like the lemonade you found. I know some doctors and people are against having any aspartame and maybe that's why the nutritionist is having you have the little bit of sugar. I drink the second one you mentioned or regular Chrystal light but have tried to cut back because I know aspartame is not good for us. Hope I've helped a little. Good luck & take care.

I forgot: the Sugar Free COUNTRY TIME does have aspartame in it, which isn't good. I had read a while back that sugar alcohol is not good for your body, and drinks that are sugar free may have NO sugars but the sugar alcohol content is high. Oh well, I guess I'l stick to the PURE Crystal Light and fingers crossed they get the lemonade flavor!! The Mango Tangerine just isn't doing it for me (but then, the ISOPURE Zero Carb (Blue Raspberry) drink didn't either.

I was only told "Crystal Light or other fluids with artificial sweeteners (truvia, Splenda)." Honestly, I drink water or brewed green tea (usually raspberry flavored) with Splenda. I have never cared for the taste of crystal light.

Can't you ask her as to why she recommended that brand? As opposed to anything else?

I questioned everything my dietician gave me specially because I told her I don't do sugar free anything. I rather go without. If she gave a premade or processed suggestion I'd ask her to give me a suggestion for something more natural. I most often found alternatives to my likes and personal tastes.

After surgery, I worked with another nutritionist who was more in touch with holistic nutrition customized to my needs.

I drink the Vitamin water Zero, there are only two flavors I like. I drink 2 bottles a day a bit pricy but much less than my food budget pre sleeve. They also have vit B 12, I have never supplemented and my levels have been great.

Immediately after surgery, it is OK to have those few calories and sugar grams. Those are the only nutrients you will get the first week and one of the few you will get the two weeks after that. If you can tolerate the sweetness, go for it. Most here will tell you that you will likely only use a half packet of any of the flavorings after surgery. Don't fret the few calories in the few weeks after surgery.

I'll stick with the PURE crystal light. IF I feel I need a change from water. I don't ever drink lemonade, Crystal light, punch, etc... I like water. But after drinking over a gallon a day since December, it's not as pleasant tasting as drinking water BEFORE this new chapter. It's worth it!

I know this is a few days old, and I see that you had your surgery today. I hope everything went smoothly. I just wanted to comment that Pure Crystal Light is available online at Target. Several flavors to choose from. It is made with a little bit of sugar and Stevia. As others said, your nutrtionist probably has an objection to artificial sweeteners.
