25lbs down and CPAP gone!! But acid and nausea appearing...sigh.

I was so thrilled when I stepped on my scale today. I hit my 25lb mark, which to me is huge! With the good comes the bad however as I'm suffering from awful heartburn and nausea this week, and this is a first for me. I am still taking two acid pills a day, as per my doctor. With this acid issue I am not sleeping well at all. Anyone else hit such a period during their first month? Happy Friday'

I only got nausea if I overate. Which once you are eating foods in the beginning is very easy to do. Your tummy is so small it literally takes a few bites and it is full. So if you eat too quickly or too much you will get nauseous or actually sick. And congrats on your weight loss! Things will get easier and better every day.

Fortunately or unfortunately, nausea has never been my thing. Stomach of iron. I am sleeping so much better though.

I had the acid reflux problem early on, stuck with taking the pills and not eating too soon before I went to bed. It resolved within a couple of months and never have the problem afterwards. Hang in there, it gets easier!

It helps if you use an angle pillow. Don't eat too soon to bedtime. Stay away from spicey, acidy food. And stay away from carbinated drinks. Those things will help.

Congrats on the weight loss, as far as the reflux at night try elevating your head. I have suffered from reflux for years prior to surgery and the first thing my doctor ever told me to try was elevating my head which did help. The sudden onset of symptoms could be from a new food you are eating just a thought.

I had a huge scare about three days post op. I woke up choking on stomach acid. I went to see my internist immediately that morning. I had been sleeping flat, which is a NO NO. He treats GERD and acid reflux patients successfully he said by suggesting that we sleep on an incline. I bought a gradual incline foam pad for my mattress from Amazon for less than $99 with s/h and it has been a great investment!!!

I have not had another incident and do not take medications. I don't eat greasy or heavy foods often, and when I have, like lamb vindaloo it hasn't been an issue. The occasional Tums if I have gone too long without eating and I need to eat a protein like beef or chicken.

On Doctor Oz today fri 3/10 they had an episode on acid reflex and a book how to get past it in 28 days, sounds interesting.

Thank you, I'll look on Amazon! I also think that I'm still over 200lbs is not helping. My doctor prescribed me Carafate today, which I'll pick up after dinner. We'll see if that helps me...it's supposed to coat the stomach.
