Payment for surgery

I will be having my surgery in July. I'm having the sleeve in Mexico how did every that went to Mexico pay an did you feel safe send money there? Thanks for any answers or suggestions

Hi Teresa, we brought 4,000$ cash with us. We wanted to get maximum discount for surgery. We were nervous but had no problem. After they pick you up they drive you straight to the hospital where you'll have your physical the the hospital business coordinator will bring you into his office collect your money,go over your complete stay,have you sign consent and answer any questions you might have. I looked at it this way, those vans are protected. They want nothing to get in the way of americans bringing and spending their money. There was no hidden fees payment was exactly what was stated,also I had extra test done by the Cardiologist and i wasn't charged more. Hope this helps.

I did not go to Mexico but what Tamera says makes sense. If they couldn't get you to make your payment safely they would lose a lot of business. They are going to do everything in their power not to let that happen.

I paid by a bank check. My surgeon asked me to get a certified bank check and bring it down with me. I may have prepaid a couple hundred beforehand on credit card which is the down payment. But that's just to book the surgery and hold the spot. Don't give the full amount till you get down there.
Also call your credit cards to put a note on your account you're going to Mexico and may be using your charge accounts.

I called my credit card companies before I left and when I got to Mexico they locked my accounts. Luckily I brought my cell phone and had to call them. It was in my notes I was going there for medical tourism so they unlocked my accounts. I believe the certified bank check is the safe route to go but ask your clinic and surgeon.
