Default 2 months out - losing weight but stomach aches

My sleeve surgery was Dec.29 and I'm 44 lbs down, so all is well in that area. But pretty much everything I eat makes my stomach ache a little. Other than liquids, anything that I eat will hurt for about 10-15 minutes per bite. So 2 bites, and I"ll be achy for 30 min or so. Bear in mind that the ache is minor. I can still go about my day, work, play with kids, whatever....but I'm trying to figure out if this is normal for some.

Does it go away in your experience?

could it be stomach acid or gas? have you tried taking a pepscid or gas x before you eat to see if that helps?

Watch what you're eating. I cant tolerate some foods, they give me an ache too for 20 minutes. Watch and see if its something you're eating.

I only ache if I eat too fast or too much. If this is for everything you eat you should contact your doctor. Definitely keep a log of what you're eating and if you get the ache. The doctor may ask for this.

So I've lost 45 lbs in 2 months. THe first month I dropped 25 very quickly. I'm assuming that the remained of the wight loss will not be as quick. I feel like if I could lose 5-8 lbs per month then that would be awesome. Anyone know what is a normal range of weight loss (of course everyone is different). Just curious.

45 pounds is damn good, don't worry about that part. I have discomfort after eating when I eat too fast or heavier denser foods. So you may want to go with more fish and less chicken for a little bit.

In the beginning, I had trouble getting much down at all because of the swelling. Once the swelling subsided I was better off.

    Keep up the good work.

Hey so great to hear from you! And I am so happy that you are doing well.

Regarding discomfort, it happens less frequently nowadays, but it might be the new normal until your sleeve heals more. Eat slowly when eating new foods to see how yoy react. Try to take a tums a few minutes before you eat your protein from meats, that helped me. I noticed that since I am eating a bit of more carbs now, I don't react to proteins with that discomfort. Take to your post op doctor about adding probiotics and enzymes as supplements now.

Regarding weight, like you said we are all different, but as long you keep in mind that the Sleeve is not a magic tool that will make your weight disappear overnight, and that only works if you are committed to a lifestyle change that incorporates proper well balanced nutrition, supplements to assist our bodies function properly, some type of daily activity to help your body burn stored fat, lack of it will start eating your muscles and slow your metabolism, staying hydrated is as essential as your protein intake, and managing your stress through supportive means like family and friends or a professional therapist then you will lose weight in the long run.

I'm only ten months post op, my weight loss has been slow compared to others, but I have learned those lessons from veteran Sleevers here and I'm committed to a lifestyle change that will be sustainable for me.

Find out what works for you, and just follow your program. If at some point it's not working then revisit and revise, but as long as you are incorporating those basic fundamentals you will be on the right track.

    Wishing you continued success!

    Hi
I had pain after eating too. I was miserable for a bit and worried that I would never want to eat again. It does go away. I had to learn how to eat really slowly. Like take a bite...walk away....and take another bite about 10 minutes later. Otherwise I felt sick.
I promise it gets better. Congrats on your weight loss. Everyone is different, but mine was consistent for about a year. I followed all of the rules and my sleeve worked for me.

I am a week ahead of you, my wife 2 weeks ahead, if you eat fast, or even add a sip of liquid durning that bite and chew you will experience the discomfort of being kicked in the stomach... I.E: We just got KFC delivered hot for the first time since December, and after 3 bites in less then 40 seconds, I was in pain... pain yes... but it did taste good.... 30 minutes later I finished my 1 breast of fried chicken, 3 French fries, did a pushaway, and prepared to go to the gym for a workout.... Yes there is live after VSG and we all have to learn our bodies again... both of us are -40 PO and have a long way to go.... Sleevers all have a Great Day...... Jpmlvm

I get discomfort from certain foods. Try to track what you're eating to see if something is bothering you more than others. weird thing for me is that fish bothers me. I imagined I'd be eating fish a lot (I love it), but so far no luck. I"m ok with chicken and turkey so I've been sticking with that.

Fish is bothering me as well while I have had no problems with chicken, turkey and eggs. I'm just very lucky that chicken is my favorite food so not having a lot of choices hasn't bothered me at all.

The average amount of weight loss varies from person to person. Starting weight, genetics, how much you have to lose etc.

Red face Re: 2 months out - losing weight but stomach aches

    hey all.
I would like to get an advice or any help. I have a stomach ache for last 3-4 days. and don't know how to stop it. I don't want to eat pills.
I read that fenugreek seed are a natural medicine from stomach ache. I have a coupon with a discount (h ttp://nutritionsguru.com), so I'm going to order it via the net, it will be much cheaper.
    what do you think?
    any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if this already posted, so I'm posting again just in case.

I found out pretty quickly that when i ate too much my stomach would tell me its full with a slight tummy ache. I hear that in the future it won't ache as much unless i just cram too much in. I've never heard of the supplement you're talking about, but I've heard mints of all kinds have been used to help tummy aches for millinea.

when was your surgery? what do you eat normally? are you over eating?
