Newbie - 3/22/17 Surgery Date - Hello!

Hi Everyone,
I'm Laura, from Annapolis, MD and my surgery is on 3/22/17. My mood is erratic, I swing between excited and scared witless. I'm still learning the rules of saying "Welcome to the board" and "Hello," so any help would be appreciated. Any suggestions on keeping my nerves at bay would be also be appreciated.

Welcome. I too am going (hopefully) in for surgery in March. I, like you, am excited- and scared- at the same time. I am finishing up my insurance requirements and all the testing right now. Only one more test to go and my last nutrition class is tomorrow morning. Been a quick 3 months! I am trying to focus on months from now and how much better I will feel after shedding this excess baggage!

Thanks for saying "hi". Glad to meet someone else that is having the operation about around the same time as me. I welcome the company. I like the way you think and I'll try to adjust my thoughts when the fear sets in. I've finished all of my meetings and tests and now I'm hunkering down and getting ready to do the 2 week pre-surgery diet. Right now I'm trying to eat well and stay sane.

Welcome Laura my surgery is on March 9th wow 2 weeks. I'm overly excited so I Know how excited you maybe. As far as the scared part I haven't gotten to that yet I'm more scared of living this life in this size body or a bigger one for years to come

Thanks for reaching out and letting me know. It's nice to meet someone in my neck of the woods. I was considering changing to Doyle because I hear she's very personable, but just didn't follow up on it. Anyway, I agree, it's a wonderful program and I REALLY appreciate all the info prep that they are doing with me. Congratulations on your weight loss, I'm so glad for you! Thanks for replying!

I never met Dr. Gandsas but Dr. Doyle is such a nice and personable doctor. You will fortunately meet many of the same support people so you get the best of both. You should try going to the monthly support group meeting. It is the third Tuesday of the month. So the next is March 21st. Lots of good people and experiences.

A "sooner" like me, fabulous - 2 weeks. Are you on any special 2-week liver shrinkage diet now? Wow, you're already a successful with your journey so far, good for you! Yep, my emotions change as rapidly as a mixer on high speed, I guess it's to be expected.

Ghost, regarding the support groups - yes, been meaning to go but life keeps getting in the way. I couldn't make it this month and hope for next month. I was even thinking of starting another group of folks that I've met in the area. Not ready to do this but keep it in the back of my mind. This forum is just the best. It's very active and the folks are so friendly, it's wonderful. Good company for the journey ahead.

You should try next month. I know that butts right up to your surgery but it could be worth doing. Either way I hope we get to meet you soon.

Hi Laura, I just had my surgery last month and went through times were I was scared and questioned what I was doing. What I would do is read positive stories/Testimonials from people having success both in surgery and after. Reading some already lost all their wt. and reading about all the adventures. It made me hunger to have this surgery and excited and the fear evaporated until I got down to Mexico and then fears were aleaviated when I met the medical team and others going through it. Don't hesitate to ask anyone questions. Good luck : )
