Default How long does this stage last?

I was successfully sleeved 9 days ago. Other than they had to repair an unforeseen hernia, it went well.
I honestly did not expect to be so lethargic and tired still. My brain is still fuzzy and I keep doubting myself.

Don't know if I am so tired because of the surgery, anesthesia, or the 500 calories I am only able to ingest.
Very little energy except in 30 minute spurts
I upped protein to 60 grams a few days ago, but still no improvement.

Appreciate any insight, experiences, or suggestions to when I will start feeling more normal again.

I swear the anesthesia fog lingers.
You sound like otherwise you are doing good and you're getting a lot of protein in.

I will tell you I felt a huge change in my energy at six weeks. Energy had gotten better with each passing week, but at six weeks, it was like someone turned a switch, and I was back to pre-surgery activity levels. During the first couple of weeks, I would have to sit down after climbing a flight of stairs, or taking a shower, etc. Don't worry, it IS the anesthesia, low-calorie levels, could be needing more water intake, same with protein. It WILL get better!

I was severely tired a few days just after surgery, but now 5 days out I'm not as bad. I am still very tired though. With me, I think its just because my body has not gotten used to running on such low calories or such light food yet. I believe after a few weeks more your body will figure out how to run properly with this new way of life and eating. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Major surgery, totally-under anesthesia, pain meds, body shock, not a lot of nutrition right now, probably dehydrated (that alone would conk you out), WTF stress re "I just gave someone permission to cut out 80% of my stomach!", "Will I be the only person in the world this doesn't work for?", "What kind of mess am I going to go back to at work?" "What are all those assholes saying behind my back right now?"

    Yeah, that'll take a while.

Seriously, when you can eat 800 cals a day you'll start feeling better. Don't push it.

And seriously -- sip that water. Sip it! Sip it! Sip it some more! Seriously, dehydration will really do a number on you. Why do you need so much water right now? Because your body is trying to push out toxins of ALL kinds -- body-healing by-products, anesthesia and pain med poisons, and all the waste products your body is spewing out right now because you're losing weight faster than you will ever lose weight again in your whole life!

Yes , Yes and Yes-all those are true.

For every hour you under anesthesia, you body takes at least a month to return to normal.

It'll get a bit better day by day. Focus on your protein, water, and moving. Also B12 can help with energy.
