    Default Has anyone experienced this?

So, I was at Busch Gardens on Friday and was so excited to not have to worry about taking a walk of shame because I wouldn't be able to fit into any rides. Hopped on the first roller coaster and I got so dizzy and nauseated. I was shaking so bad after it was over. Am I just getting too old for rides or did the smaller stomach make me get dizzy and nauseated? I know it's a stretch. I really don't want to believe it's from old age I rode that same roller coaster right after I got off the first trip and then rode another coaster about 10 minutes later, but just didn't have the stomach to do any more.

We went to Universal a few years ago and I rode the Hulk. I was sick and dizzy for hours afterwards. (Prior to my sleeve.) I couldn't believe how I felt afterwards. As a teenager, I rode everything with no problems whatsoever. I've learned that I can ride some of the milder coasters that don't go upside down, but can no longer handle the intense rides that loop upside down. For me, it had nothing to do with the sleeve, but getting older.

I think this happens as we get older. I used to go on everything. Now even the carousel gets me dizzy.
I can't wait to at least try a coaster this summer.

Well crap, that's what I was afraid of - old age This just makes me realize how many years were wasted being overweight and not being able to enjoy things like this. I think next time, I'm taking some motion sickness medicine and see if that helps, cause I love riding coasters!

A few years ago, I went to the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo with my daughter. I had been given two tickets to the Owner's suite (Houston Texans) on the night that REO Speedwagon was playing. I loved that band growing up. Lots of backseat memories with that band...but...I digress.

As with everyone else, I was always too overweight to ride the fun rides with my kids when they were growing up. My daughter, who was 22 at the time, begged me to ride one of the roller coasters at the carnival with her. I agreed as I used to love to ride them when I was younger and skinnier. This particular coaster was designed to be mobile and moved from carnival to carnival. It was a very compact and while it didn't loop the loop, it did have quite a few high speed, hair pin turns and elevation changes. I swear to the little baby Jesus, I thought I was going to die. I had never felt as dizzy and nauseated getting off of a ride as I did after that one. I literally had to sit down for a few minutes to get myself together. I don't get air sick and I don't get sea sick. In fact, I spend every available minute I have on a boat in the middle of Galveston Bay fishing. I've never been motion sick a moment in my life.

Also, right around the same time I zip lined down Freemont Street in Vegas in a speedo and didn't get dizzy or sick. Ice Bucket Challenge. Again, I digress.

So, while I never thought to put two and two together regarding WLS and roller coasters, there may be something to that. I was in my early fifties at the time of the ride and I really don't think age has (had) anything to do with it, but, who really knows.

As for concert, it did not suck. They played all of the hits, and surprisingly, my daughter knew the words to most of their songs. Who'd of thunkit. I sat a few seats over from the owner of the Texans, ate a few fork fulls of his free food, drank some very nice free margaritas, and had a blast with my daughter.

I haven't had the surgery yet, but I used to go to Six Flags all the time and ride all the rides one right after the other with no problems.
I stopped going for a few years, and when I went on one of the milder rides, whoa! I was dizzy, sick...that had never happened to me before.
Don't know if it's because of getting older, or just not being used to it. But I can't ride rides like I used to

I guess it could be, but you would think a roller coaster ride would raise it I know my heart was beating like crazy.

I love your responses/stories. Tinman, I can't wait to try zip lining and horseback ride especially through the Aspen Mountains and Maroon Bells. It is absolutely breathtaking and you will see how John Denver wrote his wonderful music. Although I can't wait for the many opportunities I'll have.

Sorry to hear about your outing. Besides ending up miserable I'm sure it was a big disappointment especially after working hard to loose your weight.
I've had problems with my inner ear, it caused horrible symptoms like you exsperienced and vertigo. Don't know if your symptoms was due to age or surgery or the movements caused an inner ear problem.

I just went to Universal Studios for my son's birthday 2 weeks ago and I ended up with a major headache from all the jerking around. Not sure if it's related or not but it was very noticeable.

I'm close to 60 and can't ride any roller coaster's or high anxiety rides anymore. In 2009 I went on Mission to Mars at Disney World and almost passed out. Since then if there's warning signs I don't do it. And yes, I feel it's an age thing.
