Hi! I am also three days out. Having trouble figuring out how much to eat or drink. I feel pretty good, just fatigued. Today I ventured out and ran errands. I have only taken one pain pill. I have been focusing on trying to get protein in, but it is a slow process. I had some sugar free jello today and that felt weird. I bought foods that my doctor says I can eat during the first two weeks, but am afraid to try them. I will try to get down more water and protein tomorrow and see how things go. Good luck to everyone!
Hi Jess5.. yes it does seem a bit difficult to get in the protein. takes a while to finish
a protein shake. I am restricted to shakes oatmeal and yougurt this week. next week i
move on to soft foods. i do t think imdrinking enough fluids since i am having stomach muscle
spams. have you experienced these? i stopped my pain meds in the hospital. i don't seem
to have any pain. try milk based protein shakes they go down easy.
Congratulations Jess on having the surgery. My surgeon for the first week only allow Clear liquids. So for amount just sip sip sip. Also if not taking a med for heartburn add Nexium or prevacid. Make sure its the capsule one, be careful not to break the tiny tiny balls. This med helps inflammation. It comes out as feeling hungry and causes the gurgling or rumbling sounds.
The second week you transition to Full liquids starting protein shakes. 3rd week add cream soups and can have all the liquids from first and second week. 4th week puréed food, they want you to start withe chicken, canned tuna or salmon. Then 5th week you can try chunky food. I'm in the 4th week and having trouble eating. I use babyspoon and eat very slow. feels tight going down. Make sure your walking everyday too. Another good source of information is "Ask Dr Alvarez" he's on here and youtube. Good Luck on this exciting journey. Its so fun fitting into clothes you couldn't wear before surgery, my blood sugars are normal. Already off some meds too. Also another great tool is a fitbit watch. Being able to track all my movements is so fun and helpful. It has a great food/drink tracker and tallies calories consumed and breaks them down to tell you how much carbs, sugar, protein ect. You also plug in how many calories you want to consume for weight loss. Another fun feature is being able to add friends with fitbit. You can then encourage one another. Best of luck to you both.
Welcome to the Sleeve Club, Hope your doing well. Third day was the most painful for me. I'm doing good now. It will be 4 weeks on the 24th. I've lost 35 pounds so far. Its been an exciting journey so far. I'm having some difficulty transitioning from full liquids to purred. Good luck with your journey : )
