    Thumbs down 2 1/5 weeks

    Hello Everyone,
This is an update about my health, the doctor took the stents out yesterday morning and had to put new ones in, so that means 2.5 more weeks on misery & pain. I don't mean to be a Debbie downer, but I'm going to see a pain mangement doc so I can get off the opiates and try to return to work on the 23rd. If I have to wait another 2.5 before going back to work, I doubt I'll have job. The doc said I actually had 2 leaks in the beginning, a small hole and a tear. The small hole closed and the tear is down to a pin hole size. That's probably why I only have 2.5 more weeks to get the stents out as opposed to the 3.5 weeks I had to wait the first time. Like I said before, I'm not trying to discourage anyone from getting bariatric surgery, just please be aware to you can have major complications and be prepared for them, because I certainly didn't think it could happen to me. I'm a very hard worker, I work and go to school full-time I'm not a wussy or cry baby either. All of y'all are on prayer list, I pray that no one else has to go though complications, the are pretty freaking awful, it's like your own person nightmare...

So sorry to hear you've had to go through all that! I had no idea.

Does your doctor know what caused the leaks?

Thank you, & no one knows what caused the leaks for sure. All I know is, I did everything I was supposed to do. I could only drink a little chicken broth and some sugar-free Jell-O. I didn't really want that, but I tried to drink a little.

Oh yes ma'am, I'm a chemical dependency counselor and a methadone clinic, so I know all about opiate addiction. I want off these opiates too! Thanks so much for the well wishes...

I doubt you did anything to cause the leak. Sometimes things happen. I don't think our bodies would allow us to over eat or drink to the point where we could cause a leak.
I hope you are soon able to return to work. I'm praying for you.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate all the thoughts, prayers, and encouragement! I'm actually feeling pretty good, since he replaced the stents. I hope this lasts, I think it will. I'm taking 2-10 mg hydrocodones every six hours, I go see a pain management doctor this week. My goal is to get off the opiates all together. I'm also going to try to go back to work on Thursday. As long as I can function, I'll be happy...

Thanks for the update. You are on my prayer list. Hoping you recover rapidly. I am sorry this is taking so slow to heal. Hang in there.... remember there is a difference between physical dependence (a side effect) and addiction (a problem). Take your pain meds when you need them.
