    Default Pre Surgery

hi everyone! Im a 40 year old woman and have done all of my preliminary insurance qualifications for my gastric sleeve surgery. I have my pre-op appointment with my surgeon on March 3. I was wondering how soon everyone was able to return to work or regular activity. My sister is getting married and the trip there is 1800 miles away. Just trying to decide if I can get surgery and travel in the same week! Thanks for your help and lots of thanks in advance for all the help Im sure to need in the future!

I would not travel the same week. My doctor did not want me traveling for the first month because of the potential complications. I missed my sisters wedding when complications did actually occur post-op. It will be a really hard time to travel, just form my own experience. However, many people who go to Mexico for the surgery then travel home afterwards. so....

I did not travel immediately after surgery but you need at least a week to start feeling a bit better and that is if you have no complications.

i would not try it. This is major surgery. I returned to work the second week but only 4 hour days , three days a week.I wish i had waited another week, because you are really not eating much and you are tired. At least i was. Wish you well.

It depends on what you do. Desk job, I had surgery on a wednesday and could've gone back Monday. I had a ten pound lifting restriction for 1 month.

I couldn't have gone back to work for 2 weeks minimum. Traveling the same week to a wedding, hell no. Schedule your surgery for after the wedding. You won't be able to eat the food post-op for a month to 6 weeks at best and only in limited amounts.
