3-days Post-Op and still hurting

Morning gang. My surgery went well but was hoping the pain would be less by now. I am walking every few hours and drinking water, protein drink sips and eating jello. When do you start to feel more like yourself? Another week perhaps? Thanks for the advice and have a great day.

Not to scare you but... I hurt for about a month after surgery. Seems that the surgeon clipped a nerve during surgery. There are many unmapped nerve endings in the mid-section. After about a week, all the incisions felt better except the one incision that hurt for a month. I hope yours is just normal post surgery pain and not that.

I am 3 days post op as well and still in some pain but better than yesterday. I suspect we will start feeling "normal" with each day that passes. My goal is to get in more liquids than I did yesterday. I hate the liquid pain meds so I switched to Tramadol. Seems to be helping me. Just have to remind myself that I just had a major surgery and it will take time to heal. Good luck to you and be well.

What type of pain are you having? I had very little pain from the surgery itself but had alot of gas pains. I started taking Gas X and the gas pains quickly diminished. Glad to hear though that your surgery went well and best of luck in your weight loss journey.

Congrats on your surgery and glad it went well. Day three was the most painful time for me. i had gas trapped and put pressure on areas they did alot of the work. You might try walking more frequent, Toradol helped with the muscle pain. I'm taking Nexium for the acid pain, it appears like hunger pains and makes stomach rumble. There are other forms of this that are good too. My surgeon only allowed clear liquids until second week. Maybe protein drink irritating your stomach. Keep in mind you did have major surgery and takes six weeks to heal. Hope this helps. If i can help you in anyway please let me know.

By day 7 I was feeling pretty damn good. I did use my pain meds a few times that first week and I do think the first time I used mine was around day 3.

I agree with most posters, it is probably gas. Once it's out of your system you will probably only have minimal pain. I took something for pain for about 2 weeks.
