On Southwest they don't assign seats. You just get in line and sit down wherever you want. The A group goes first in order, numbers 1 through 60. Then B, then C. So if you are in C you'll probably get a middle seat.

Always check in on line exactly 24 hours before your flight to get the best spot in line.

All the flights to CA seemed to be cancelled due to the enormous amounts of rain hitting the state. Many flights from here in Las Vegas are cancelled just flying the hour into San Diego from here. :/
