Default Looking for Help....Very frustrated 4 weeks post op

I am 4 weeks post-op from the Gastric Sleeve and was cruising along until last week. I have followed the diet almost 100% and am tracking everything I eat or drink, I have not had over a 1000 calories on any given day and hover around 700 most days. I have had no alcohol, no sweets or BAD carbs at all

In the last two weeks I have had 2 episodes of bad diareaha. Is this something I ate??? Yesterday I had very well cooked cabbage (1/4 cup) and 3oz of Turkey burger for dinner. Should I assume it was the food

By bigger concern is the last week my weights loss has stalled. NO weight loss in week 4 and averaging 700 calories a week. I AM FRUSTRATED.

Beginning weight was 413, current weight 369.2

Any suggestions, help, encouragement, information, experience would be great

Look up the "three week stall." It is so common that it has a name. It happens to most sleeved people between the second and fourth postoperative week. The scale does not move for a while, then suddenly it starts moving again.

If I were you, I would stay off the scale for a couple of weeks. Good luck to you!

I'm the stall queen. I also have episodes where I shoot up 8 pounds in Water Weight and then I'll lose 6 on top of it. It happened to me every time I would transition from one food group to the other. Your body is still adjusting. I don't even bothering looking at the scale like I did in the beginning. It will only frustrate you. Do you have any bowel movement problems? Getting enough liquids? All of your protein in? There are so many factors. It WILL come off. For me Month 1-6 is supposed to be 600-800 calories. I started at 288. Month 6-12 is supposed to be 600-1000. Again this is for me. Find out what your range is. It's slowed down but I know I'm definitely losing inches and I'm happy about it. It will be 15 weeks for me tomorrow. I'm still trying to find the right balance that works for ME. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

    I stalled at 4 weeks.
I'm surprised you're getting so many calories in. I'm still between 3-500.

Hard to believe that the stall happens when you're eating so little, but it's almost universal. Don't get more frustrated, stay the path, do what you're supposed to do and it WILL start coming off again!

I'm just commenting on the diarrhea thing. My doctor's office told me that irregular bowel issues (both going too much or not enough or a combo, including diarrhea) is the most common post op complaint. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case it helps anyone (0=

I am going to be 15 weeks on Thursday. I had the dreaded stall around the 4 or 5 week mark. I can tell you that I am cruising right along and losing weight at a steady rate. I have noticed that when I don't get enough protein in my weight slows and when my protein is on target I do better. As for the diarrhea I only have had 3 bouts of it the entire time. I actually have more issues with constipation. A stool softener helps but occasionally I have to revert to using an enema. And even with these issues I would not trade having had this surgery for anything. I would definitely like to hurry up and get this recovery behind me to lead a more "normal" life but honestly...the process is worth the results! Good luck!

I had stalls, many, it started around week 3. Also the diarrhea could be from eating cabbage. I couldn't stand any kind of cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage etc) it made me very sick, stomach cramps and diarrhea until three weeks ago and I'm 13 months out.

Stalls are normal and expected. Don't worry about it and just follow your guidelines you will be fine. What's important is how much you lose on the long run, in six months you should already feel so much better!! But just try to stay focused on being positive. Take care!

Thanks for your response. The two protein shakes i DRINK EVERYDAY ARE 320 CALORIES ALONE. I have been urged to get 60-80 grams of protein in no matter what. Hopefully you are to. Thanks again
