had Sleeve in 2012 but still get sick after some meals

Hi All

Just after some advice before I seek medical attention. I had my operation in May 2012 and I can still eat only very little portions and still get sick after eating only little meals like it doesn't fit in my stomach. Is anyone else still like this

not trying to be smart ass here, but isn't this why we get the surgery? so that we are forced to eat very small amounts?

Unless you keep losing weight and you're starving to death, that is.

Yeah, this is NOT normal.

Sounds like you need to have an endoscopy done -- to see if you have a stricture or a twist in your sleeve or a severe hiatal hernia or anything else wrong.

IMHO, you should not be having these issues so far out.

What Ann said. I'd definitely get a consult and look into getting an upper GI and/or endoscopy.

I had my sleeve done in 2012 too.

Some long term notes:
1. I have trouble digesting starches (potatoes, rice, pasta). I rarely eat potatos and have pasta maybe twice a year. I DO like rice (Chinese food is a fave) which can be problematic about 50% of the time. I typically eat Chinese in two sittings.

2. I overeat about 4 times a year when I am careless. Most of the time the carelessness is because I like steak. I can handle a 6 ounce steak fine, but an 8 ounce steak is too much.

3. When I overeat, I basically lie down on my side and whimper and pray to die for 20 minutes. Seriously. I can set my watch by it....twenty minutes after I overeat my stomach empties out, and all is hugs and bunnies with the world.

4. I can drink carbonated drinks. I can drink alcoholic drinks. one or the other: I cannot drink carbonated alcoholic drinks.....so beer is basically out (okay 95% out, imported Stella Artois has such low carbonation I can drink that). I have drunk more wine in the past 4 years than I have in the previous 40.

5. I get uncontrollable hiccups when my stomach is at 105% of capacity. This is my "early warning system" to tell when I've reached my limit.

That is not normal, and you should have talked to your doctor way before now. Please give them a call and get in for the tests the others mentioned, and you will be able to find out what you can do about it, good luck with it.

I had my sleeve in 2013. I had same symptoms, vomiting after SMALL meals. Endoscopy showed a hiatal hernia. Was told that there was not enough stomach to wrap around for repair. I have appointment with my bariatric surgeon in March to discuss options. I also have severe GERD. Polyps in stomach, erosion of esophagus. Biopsies were taken to rule out Barratt's Esophogus. Nervous.
