Question How much medicine is required to take after WLS?

Contemplating having WLS, so quite a few question still.

Can you tell me what medicines, vitamins, etc are required to take after the surgery? Hate to admit it, but I really have trouble swallowing pills unless I can take them with food and it sounds like for weeks after surgery food is very limited. Are there many pills needed? I know most vitamins are very large and I would never be able to get them down with just water and the thought of crushing them sounds horrible.

    Thanks for any input.

Default Re: How much medicine is required to take after WLS?

I'm almost 9-month post-op and take a daily multivitamin supplement, iron supplement a week prior to my moon and during only, and BComplex once a week or when I remember per my doctor. I have had three blood panel done since surgery and labs all showed that I was well in normal ranges, except for b12 and b6 which were high, hence I'm not taking the extra B vitamin except for what's in my multivitamin. I also use probiotics and enzymes. I used Bariatric multivitamin chewables the first 8 months, now I can easily swallow pills like I used to. I still use prescription grade multivitamins.

In terms of other medication question, you must discuss that with either your Bariatric surgeon or primary care physician. Aftercare is not a one size fits all specially if you have been on medication prior to surgery.
