Default Honestly - This is harder than I thought

I had been at the same weight since Dec. 7. Not really a stall as much as bad eating choices.

I have lost a total of 60 but only 44 since surgery.

    6 months was 1/19/17.

This is harder now ... it is based on me making good choices.

My blood work came back great - little low on protein.

I meet with nutritionist, get sleep study in the next couple of weeks.

I think counseling would be great. I would love if insurance covered it.

There are some mental hurdles to make and I need a little help.

My husband has been a gem working out with me and supporting me. But accountability is my responsibility.

Goals for me - Eat low to no sugar, minimal carbs and not eating late at night - count protein intake
    - Thanks for all the encouragement - I really appreciate having others that understand the struggle.

You mentioned my nemesis. I had curbed the late night snacks till about a week ago. Once I started, it is now hard NOT to get up after a reading a while in bed and go fix a snack. I've been good about making it protein but noticed that this last week has not been a good one for weight loss. Got to get back on track.

Your goals are the same ones I need to foster also.

    Hang in there.

You can do it. Just remember that you can only eat small amounts and your body needs nutrients. It is all about good choices. It was recommended by my nutritionist to follow a low carb lifestyle. I have followed her advice to the letter and find it works for me. Carbs are my weakness so I know that staying low carb is definitely my best bet. You got this. You know what you need to do. Next time you start to get something you shouldn't remember what you went through to have the surgery. Only you can make the sleeve work for you. My surgeon's office has group meetings. I have been fortunate enough not to need to attend them but it is definitely reassuring knowing that I have a place to turn to. Good luck.

Don't beat yourself up. We all do it. Your admittance is what we all should recognize. We are food addicts and must remember to be vigilant in our fight to break our addictions.

I agree about the counseling. I hope that your insurance covers it. If not...is there a weight loss group you could join?
As I started to lose weight I started to see how much of it was mental for me. I had to fix my relationship with food. Well, it is in progress. I think I will be working on it for my entire life. At least I now have an awareness though.

My insurance does cover counseling. I went for my 1st visit. I only have to pay $20 copay each session. It will take time to trust in the process. 1st session seemed a lot about the counselor talking about her previous diet plans. I need to be patient.

redkcmom -- I did find a great counselor. But I had to wait a six months to get on his rotation. He was the second counselor I worked with. I lasted only 3 visits with the first one. She wasn't awful. Just wasn't particularly helpful.

And no -- you do NOT want a counselor who thinks your issues re food/eating are the same as hers/his. This should be all about how you deal and resolve YOUR issues. Just because the words "food" and "eating" are common to two people doesn't mean they have anywhere near the same issues or that their best approaches to resolving those issues will be exactly the same.

    IMHO.

My doctor put me on a low carb plan. She basically told me that carbs were like a drug for some people. If you eat them. you crave them and want more. Since I've healed and been able to eat regular food, I avoid them as much as possible. It really does help with head hunger.
