    Default I miss water!

I know it sounds weird because, obviously, we're still supposed to drink our fluids following surgery, but I really miss water. I think I miss water more than I do most foods. I've been sip, sip, sipping as much as I can since surgery but I don't seem to be able to get in that magic # of 64oz. I'm a guzzler from way back, I've always been the person who can drink a full glass of water in just 2-3 drinks. I miss being able to guzzle, lol. Sipping is difficult for me. An old boyfriend used to get so annoyed with me back when I drank soda, because I could finish a can of soda in 2 drinks. I haven't drank soda in probably 5 years so that's moot, just giving you an idea of how fast I drink. And, the whole "don't drink 30 minutes before you eat or 30 minutes to an hour after you eat"...how do you guys do that??? It's so difficult for me not to drink while I'm eating! I fully understand the reasoning behind it but it's, seriously, probably one of the biggest things I'm struggling with...well, that and not guzzling!

I was having the same problem. I am at week 5 post surgery now and I can take in a LOT more water now. I was not expecting to be able to do it this soon, but I am getting a lot more water in now. As far as the 30 minutes pre and post meal, that is also really hard for me. I would drink a TON of water with my meals. I am still adjusting to that an hoping it becomes more natural eventually.

I'm right there with ya! although now, at 8 mos out, I can suck up a 16 oz bottle of propel in just a few swigs. IT FEELS SOOOOO GOOOOD!

oh, and that 30/30 min rule...bah humbug. I can't do it....well, I actually haven't really ever tried, I've tried half-assedly, but not for serious. I'm always thirsty, so going an hour without a drink? no can do.

Sip, sip, sip. People at work have just gotten used to always seeing me with my tumbler. I never walk away from my desk w/o it, unless going to the restroom, of course. Propel, Mio, and other flavoring items (like lemons or cucumbers) are my best friend. Plain water and I don't agree anymore. I do miss plain water.

Don't gulp anything. You can end up with air in your stomach or worst, slimmies. YUCK

I will be 12 weeks tomorrow and I am just now getting to the point where I can drink a decent amount of water. Like literally in the last few days. I feel so accomplished and am starting to pee more frequently so I am very happy about that. I feel a lot better. So give it time, it does get better. I used to have to drink other liquids because the water was hard to get down for some reason. Now it is no problem!

Nothing better than getting home from the gym and slugging back a tall glass of ice water. As close to heaven as I can here.

My first weeks post op I had fruit infused water readily!!! It was mid-May so many 90 degree days! I get up first thing to clean up fresh mint and berries, and cut up oranges and cucumbers and add to a gallon glass jar full of ice. I'd just sip that wayer all day long!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses water. It's not that I can't drink it, or don't want to drink it. It's the fact that everyone says to sip...maybe instead of saying I miss water, I should've said I miss guzzling! lol

I actually managed to get in almost 64oz a couple days ago. That was the first time since surgery. Other liquids don't really interest me. Everything else tastes way too sweet. The protein shakes I've tried have almost made me gag, they're waaaay to sweet for me.

I couldn't drink the ready made protein shakes for awhile...several months, even though I loved them pre op. if you make them yourself, you can control the sweetness better.

Sip sip sip, for sure. It's a new habit you'll have to learn to not guzzle. Take a couple swallows at a time, but very often.
    You'll get used to it.

I totally feel you on missing water. I was a water chugger too and that is one thing I miss most. But I guess it's a small loss compared to the benefits of the surgery.

I totally agree it is a small loss compared to the benefits of surgery. I never said otherwise, just that I miss water.
