    Default Fiber Supplement

Anyone take a fiber supplement? I'm thinking about this to try to help with constipation (something I've never experienced until now).
What do you recommend? No pills please as I'm not allowed yet.

I put Benefiber in my water. You can't tell it's there and that is all I need to keep things moving along. I also never had this problem before and was extremely regular, but now if I go a day without going, I start adding the Benefiber to my water until I DO go. I experienced two bouts of constipation since my surgery and DO NOT want that to happen again. I have also tried the fiber dummies, but can't really tell you that they work. Good luck!

Hi. I know you said no pills...but I think you could manage this one. I take Pearl digestive pro-biotics. I had real awful issues for the first year or so in terms of digestion and constipation and...well all of that. This has changed my life. It took about 2 weeks to get working, but I don't have issues anymore.

First week to five maybe six months post-op I tried EVERYTHING! Nothing would relieve constipation! I drank plenty of water. Anything you take over the counter you must read and research because there is nothing out there that you can take long term.

What I started doing and still do is take probiotics and enzymes, they come in capsules, but you can open them and sprinkle in water or food. I also started a triple organic fiber, it's powder and can be mixed in water or diluted juice if you prefer. I do probiotics and enzymes regularly, and now fiber just once or twice a week since I am eating more fiber in my diet.

For me, the usual fiber supplements did not work since they are mostly soluble fiber and can actually make constipation worse. The key for me was INSOLUBLE fiber like apple pectin or flax seed which I put in everything.... Greek yogurt, protein shakes, cereal, etc. Probiotics and LOTS of water were helpful as well. And until I finally figured out the fiber thing, milk of magnesia was a lifesaver. I'd take it at night and be pooping by morning.

Lots of water and 2 scoops of benefiber works wonders. Milk of magnesia works too but tastes nasty. Benefiber is tasteless .
