    Default Frustrated after 5 years.

I had my sleeve over five years ago and I have had my ups and downs but lately I am going up in weight again. I have been here before and I was able to just change things up and get myself back below 200lbs but recently that isnt working. I havent changed much in my diet life that should be causing this gain so I guess I am headed back to the doctor to ask them whats going on .

I understand what you r going thru, I am 15 pounds and it has only been 1 year and 9 month since my Surgery, I am also trying to figure this out , the only thing that I stoped doing is going to the gym on a daily basis because of work and family life. I going begin again daily next week and see what happens. Good luck.

RehabNurse has posted numerous articles on how internal set points the body is fighting to get back to.

I have also read that adding 5-10 minutes of weight resistance to your daily activities may kickstart metabolism.

I hope you find a plan that help you get back on track and maintain your weight goals.

well, you answered your own question: if you stop burning xxx calories a day in the gym, you have to cut that same amount of calories from your intake (ie: food/diet) in order to not gain weight.

also, remember to not get into that mindset of "well, I'm working out now, so I can eat a little more". I do that all the time!

I think my first plan of attack would be to start tracking every teeny morsel that goes into my mouth. you may think your diet hasn't changed much, but even splenda has carbs! one bite here, one there....it really adds up. even one tortilla chip at the mexican place counts!

I hope you figure it out. You did such a great job getting to today. Blood work may be your answer to what is going on. Not sure if you have a local vendor there in Colorado but here in Maryland we have a guy who has a mobile BodPod to measure your metabolic rate and other body configurations. Might be worth a shot to see what your resting metabolic rate is.

HI ACE this is quite the never ending challenge. I am also near 5 years and 10 lbs has found me that will not let go. Maybe that is the weight my body wants. ????? Are you still healthy?????? Hope so. No advice from here, just know that you are supported with a hug.

I'm 3 years out and scared to death about regaining. I weigh myself daily, feel it's the only way to keep on track. I enjoy exercising. But this is definitely the hard part!! All that weight just fell off, no problem, it's maintaining that's the work in my opinion.

I think this site helps, also I continue to attend the monthly support group at the hospital. Last night was a "Back to Basics" theme that I really needed to hear. So I guess that's what I'd recommend for you, get back to everything you learned after surgery about what to eat, drink, exercise, not drink with meals, taking your vitamins, etc. Over time we tend to forget some of these things. I did find out that I should still be on bariatric vitamins (after 3 years!) I had switched over to the Walmart brand.

I agree with weighing your self daily. I have my danger zone weight and if I get to that, then I really watch the carbs until I go back down. Right now, that number is 136. I've been maintaining between 133-135 and I'm ok with that. I too have a lot of fear that I will regain this weight. I've read so many things that those of us who are 2+ years out will start to regain and I'm approaching my 2 year anniversary in April. Good Luck! Let us know if the dr. offers any words of wisdom.

First, Congratulations on the weight that you have lost and kept off. You need to give yourself a little more credit and not be too hard on yourself. With that said, I completely understand your concern about gaining some. Have you tried the 5 day pouch test? It has worked for me whenever a few pounds started sneaking up on me or whenever I felt like I was starting to be able to eat too much. It's worth a try, at least once, to help kick start weightloss again. You've got this!

I was wondering too! How are things going? Yeah, maintaining is a bit** but gaining it is worse! lol! I have to fight it all the time, but the nice thing about being where we are now is that it's a whole lot easier to lose 5-10 lbs than over 100 - which most of us have done! Just try to stay on top of it and when you see the scales go up, put the brakes on and go back to your plan. You KNOW what to do - you have done it before and no one knows your body like you do!! Take care and best wishes, my friend!
