    Default Woke up fat

I literally woke up because I gained wieght. It. Woke. Me. Up. My wrists were so bloated that I woke up to loosen my watch and remove the hair tie from my wrist that previously was loose and was now cutting off my circulation.

How did this happen? What the hell is going on? Did I really eat THAT much? Oh yeah, more friggen steroids, this time in the form of a patch placed on my shoulder. The scale shows a 4lb gain this morning! How does that happen so fast? Where does that weight come from? My face feels like a balloon that's about to pop, though I don't really see much of a difference in the mirror.

Steroids can cause all kinds of issues. They can cause water weight gain, rapid heart rate, and insomnia.

Steriods are a godsend for what ever the health issue is that you're using them to treat. The bad side is weight gain, you become emotional at times, you're wired at night, your appetite increases and I can keep listing the issues. Hopefully, you won't have to be on it very long.

I didn't even drink any water! Just kidding. I know you can still have water weight without drinking any. That's dumb! And steroids are dumb. This is my third go with them, and they are not helping me. The first time they were injected in the general area of pain. I gained quite a few pounds (5 or 6 I think) The second time they were injected in the exact spot of pain. I lost 4 pounds. This time it's a patch, and I'm gaining again. Not a single one of these times has the pain gone away for more than a day.

So if I'm gonna gain weight anyway, I might as well enjoy it. Stuffing my gut with prime rib and mashed potatoes as I type this Ugh, and now I'm miserable. That happens fast, too.

Back to that whole water thing. You know, before surgery I only ever drank water. That's it. Nothing else. Now? I hardly ever drink it. I'm downing Milo's Splenda sweetened tea like I'm gonna die without it. And I'm drinking a freaking Coke right now. I despise Coke. Loathe it. Always have. WTF?!

Bummer about the steroids not helping. But I would trade 20 pounds of water weight for the relief I've gotten from them when I've needed it. BTW, Why don't you drink water postop?

Kindle, I don't know why I don't drink it. For the first year I did. Room temperature water was great. Couldn't do cold anymore. When my kid got sick and we were at the hospital for all those months, I discovered Milo's Splenda sweetened tea. I've been addicted ever since. There's no Milo's here, but they sell in by the gallon in the grocery store.

So, my PT got my MRI results back on my shoulder. I've not seen my doctor yet for the results, but therapist said I have a tear in my labrum, a deformed bone, lots of inflammation, my shoulder blades are too far apart, can't remember what else, oh but that I'm too skinny. Go effing figure. They always throw in that last part. They put on another steroid patch and taped my back up. Can't wait to see what my doctor has to say next week. He's such jolly good fun. *side eye*
