Lucky you that you were provided with 6 different plans. I wasn't. I wish I had that guidance. I'm winging it just trying to get my water and protein in...

According to my plan the last menu is the one you follow until you reach goal. After that you add calories (maybe) as long as your weight remainso stable.

I was told to count protein and liquids, that's it. Protein first, then veggies. That's what I've been doing for over 3 years not. No diet plan, as I am not on a diet. I actually don't even count protein anymore, I just eat it every meal and snack. Works for me! Oh, and I exercise. Love exercising, not diets.

what if you reach your protein goal by 2 or 3 in the afternoon? Do you stop eating for the rest of the day?

Stop eating? No way, that's crazy talk. I just eat protein at every meal. I never eat too much at once (impossible), so I just assume I'm getting the right amount. I've maintained my goal for 2 1/2 years so it works for me. All my blood work comes back fine every 6 months. In my opinion, so many sleevers make this whole thing way too complicated. But I understand we're all different, so do whatever works for you!

Now early on of course I religiously counted protein grams and fluid ounces. I journaled it daily. But now after three years I think I've got it down.

I seem to eat every couple of hours. I easily go over 100 gms protein frequently, but I avoid carbs til I get to maintenance, then I guess I'll try to replace some of that protein with more veggies or maybe some fruit.

i can overeat, though, so I'm still measuring, weighing and tracking everything.

If we had a grip on portion control, most of us would have never gotten obese.

some folks CAN lose with portion control....actually, we ALL can, because the sleeve is "surgically induced portion control".

can it be maintained? Statistically, no. People gain weight back, sleeved or not. Theoretically, yes. There are plenty of people that keep the weight off, sleeved or not

your friend is going to regain slowly but surely if she doesn't get a grip on that nutrition. It's inevitable.

We all suspect she had surgery just won't admit it because she has never been one to shy away from food, but that's her business. My cousin who had actual bypass has kept her 300 pound loss off for 5 years but admits she splurges at times. I'm looking forward to getting the weight off, feeling better about myself and the want to take better care of myself will be there!

I understand why some people choose to keep their WLS private. Not everyone wants to share. But if she is eating that way she will regain. It may just take longer than had she not had WLS. Everyone does have their own way of doing things and what works for them. I know a lot of people don't like to weigh every day since it can be frustrating to them. I do weigh myself daily as I find it helps me stay on track. But I also do not let it get me down if I stall or have a small weight bump. My scale is digital so I can see even small weight losses or gains. I know weight fluctuates as well. But that is what helps me. I also do pictures and measurements. I do low carb but I know not everyone does. I am a carb addict so I know that carbs would be a trigger for me. Also, my nutritionist recommended a low car lifestyle.

I had a dream/nightmare last night, that I lost control and gobbled up half a big bag of chips without even batting an eye! Good thing that I "came to" halfway through and stopped. Glass half full?

First line from good old tinman's mantra is "I am not on a diet".

I am going to take exception to those on here who don't think that portion control with the sleeve is the answer. The sleeve is the WMD of portion control. The secret isn't to restrict WHAT you eat. It's controlling HOW MUCH of it you eat. I eat what I want, when I want and made just the way I like it. I refuse to be shackled by a diet. I have mountains of info and actual statistics amassed on my profile page that backs up what I just typed. I did not get sleeved in order to be on a diet for the rest of my life. Period. Any doctor on the face of this earth will tell you that the best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise. The sleeve allows you to do just that all while enjoying the foods that made you fat to begin with. Now, that's just my opinion, but, it's an opinion grounded in a shit ton of been there and done that. Lots and lots of others on here would agree with me too.

It's been quite a while since I posted my mantra. In fact, it's been quite a while since I've been semi active on here. So, here it is.

I am not on a diet

Since I am not on a diet, I can't be failing at a diet.

This trip is not a race, it's a marathon. It took you a life time to get fat. Be patient.

You must eat all of the protein that your itty bitty sleeve will let you. No less than 80 grams a day.

You must drink 64 oz of WATER a day. Not Gatorade, protein shakes, beer, wine, sodas, tea, coffee, margaritas, other cocktails (I listed margaritas separately because I love myself a margarita....or three). WATER, AGUA, H2O. You can have all of the other stuff you want as long as you don't count it towards your 64.

Try to find out what full feels like for you as soon as humanly possible. That's the key to success.

You must always pay attention to the four pillars. Nutrition, Hydration, Exercise, and Supplements

And last but not least, you must never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever over eat.......ever.

Make a plan, work your plan, own the results and change as needed.

    Peace

I was sleeved in April 2015, attained a weight below my goal, and have been maintaining for the past few months.

I have not really been on any type of diet. The nutritionist at the surgeon's office told me to eat a minimum of 80 grams of protein plus 64 ounces of water each day, but that's it. I was not required to count calories, fat, carbs, or anything else.

I am still not on a diet. I occasionally eat pizza, cheeseburgers, burritos, tacos, cheesecake, and so-called junky 'forbidden foods.' However, I run 5+ miles a day, so I have plenty of bounce room to ensure no foods are forbidden.

My eating plan might be controversial, but it has been working for me.
