    Default Water Overload

I loved water and that is always what I drink for every meal. But since I had to begin drinking 130 ounces per day, (that the surgeon and nutritionist have me doing), I don't like it anymore. I could drink 64 ounces a day with no problem, but geez-Louise, this over a gallon a day is horrible.
On the bright side is the fact I'm dropping weight and it is worth it in the long run, counting down the weeks and months until surgery.

I remember those days. Now I can barely get in 64oz a day. It used to be so easy to chug it. Putting fresh lemon slices helped make it easier to get it down. Things change so drastically. Happy for you that you are losing weight before surgery. Before you know it, it will be time for surgery!

I try and drink as much as I can in the morning because if I hold off until late afternoon to consume a lot of it, I'll be up all night peeing. When I drink over 100 ounces within an hour in the early morning, it definitely pushes anything in the bowels OUT within 35 minutes and I don't dare go ANYWHERE outside the house. (I am thankful that I am a stay at home mom). But after that lovely 35 minutes or so, the peeing kicks in and lasts for a couple hours every 12 minutes. Over 100 ounces in an hour is a bit much, but I just want to get the majority of the water in me early on in the day. :/ It doesn't even taste the same to me.

I must admit that I've never heard of a recommendation for drinking that much water. Is this the normal recommended amount after surgery also? Wow, I work in Bariatrics and I'm confused about the amount.

When I had my first nutrition class at the surgeon's office, (I see him for the first time on Monday), his assistant asked me how much water I drink a day. I told her between 48 -50 oz, but could probably do 64 if I had to. She said that I had to start drinking half my weight in water a day, which is 130 oz. I nearly fell off my chair after hearing that, but began so the next day (Dec. 29). When I see the Dr. on Monday, I am going to ask him if I continue (I don't see the nutritionist again until Jan 25.) I was told this is the way he wants his patients to follow before surgery. I cringe now every morning when I see that one gallon bottle of water waiting for me in the refrigerator. I just figured this is what everyone had to do? Hmm...anyone else out there drink anything similar in ounces per day??

I have heard of 1/2 oz for every pound of weight before you posting it. It was a long time ago but I know I've read it somewhere. That being said, it is a lot of water.

After surgery is 64+oz. I've read that 1/2 oz per lb rule but it was years ago.

My nut told me the same thing. Half my weight size. Which is 145 oz a day. I barely get in 64 oz.

I have heard of half your weight in ounces of water, but my nutritionist said 64 oz. at least and more if I can, but I can't. I actually get back pains if I drink too much water.

Believe me, 130 oz is HARD! My husband just watches me with a look, like I'm drinking broken glass, and says 'How do you do that?' Determination. If this is what I have to do to satisfy the doctor (not to mention my insurance company), then so be it.
