    Default Today is the Day!

    This afternoon i"m getting sleeved!
    I am super excited!
Tonight is the start of my new life, without pain, diabetes, and lots of other discomforts.
    I can't wait!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

    Hi all, I’m back!
I have waited so lang to report back, because I didn’t want to scare DonnaH, who will have her surgery today…
Things did not go well during my surgery, to say the least..
The first thing I noticed it was a huge consternation in the recovery room, where I, half awake, vomited blood all over the oxygen cap and my bed.
    Then I fell asleep again.
Tuesday afternoon I was transferred to the ICU, where, instead of 1 day, I had to stay 4.
For two full days I kept vomiting blood until my Hb was so low, I had to get a bloodtransfusion.
I am not really fond of transfusions and my bloodtype was not available, so they started with plasma.
That did not help much, but my hemoglobin dropped not so fast anymore.
If the next day my Hb still would have fallen further, I would have go back to the OR, to be operated on again, to see where the bleeding was coming from.
Not from the outside in any case, because the drain was pretty clean.
I didn’t like that idea one bit!
Thank goodness the next day things remained stable.
I stayed in the ICU till Friday late afternoon.
Laying in my bed I felt great, so I announced that I wanted to go home the next day.
Now there is such a thing as my surgeon, who had to agree ... but luckily the next day he did.
Drain is out, and my three incisions look fine.
I got a short operation report where it says it was very difficult to insert the bougie, during the operation.
I have no idea why that was, but I’m definitely going to ask.
I am on a strict fluid diet for the first two weeks now, so it’s difficult to get some nourishment in.
I still feel rather weak, but then again, I lost about 2 liters of blood.
For those who read this and are waiting their surgery: this is definitely NOT the way it goes.
It was just my bad luck.
So do NOT discourage or put off!
    This almost NEVER happens!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Wow, sorry to read about your complications. Let your doctors do their magic to get you better. But you are right, you are weak from the blood loss but also the diet. Once you get to soft foods and proteins energy will return quickly. At the end of my three weeks of liquids/broths and then protein drinks I was drained but recovered once I started eating proteins.

Yes, it does give me concern because my surgery is in Mexico. But I'm just hoping and praying all goes well. Stay strong!
