Default Scales, infant spoons and insulated coffee mugs! Oh my!

Hi! My NUT wants me to take smaller sips of my Full Liquid Diet. So, if things first I bought a digital food scale to make sure those ounces are the correct ounces. Then she wants me to take 40 minutes to complete one 6 oz serving of liquid. So I have timed that out to one sip every 7 min 30 sec. I complained about my hot tea/broth/coffee getting cold she asked if I had an insulated mug about (duh!) so um..nope so I purchased one of those. Then she said when I start actual food next week to keep my bites as small as possibly, take my time, and chew, chew, chew! I dunno how much chewing these scrambled eggs are going to take next week, but she mentioned something about infant spoons to keep my bites small. So, I went and bought those! It is a good thing I have been socking away money for over a year now for incidentals. What about you? Any expenses?

I had nothing to buy on the kitchen side because I already have everything possible...I think the most expensive for me was all the vitamins/supplements or even protein powder.
Protein powder because I changed many time (do not stock up!) because after surgery I couldn't stand the one I was using pre-op, but again along the way it did happened again several times. Same thing with vitamins!
And when I go to the US or France I stock up and come back with my suitcases full but that's never enough...after that I have to get everything shipped overseas because nothing is available here in Taiwan so I'm paying a fortune in shipping fees...
    But it's all worth it!

Same as with Sandra. Just protein shakes, vitamins, and supplements. I never bought any special tools or timed how long it would take me to eat. I just let my body/new tummy guide me. Every nutritionist/surgeon has different guidelines and helpful tips and tools. And luckily I have tons of smaller clothes since I always boxed it up and pushed it into the garage. I am sure eventually I will run out. LOL.

The only thing that it's surprising to me about all that you said is that you are doing it post op as opposed to during your pre-op prep.

I think my NUT hammered that on my brain the first five minutes I spoke to her. Not that I had her remind me everything the first month post op!

    You are doing great!

I already knew about taking small sips. I thought I was! I already knew about the chew, chew, chew, again I thought I was. So no, none of those things suprised me. Taking 45 minutes to drink broth created circumstances I did not predict, like trying to keep the broth warm, so ergo the mugs. Taking even smalled bites than I was prompted my NUT to suggest the baby spoons. I thought I was already taking small enough bite. I have ALWAYS had a food scale since I was ALWAYS ON A DIET it seems, but it was old fashioned and ounces were difficult to measure. Since my sips and bites are bigger than I thought, a digital scare made perfect sense. So I guess the moral of this story is "I thought I was doing everything right, turns out I was not.
