Default UK pre op diet - Slimfast Offers

    Hiya

Just had my pre assement today and decided to check online for any offers on slimfast. I really wanted to do the ready made shakes but they're too expensive. Anyhoo Superdrug are doing the powdered tins for £3.49 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 So not wanting to miss out I've just ordered 10 tins of various flavours. That should see me through the 2 week liver shrinking diet and the 2 week post op liquid diet.

    Hope it helps someone 💕💕💕💕

    Hi there,

Slimsfast is not something you should use before or after bariatric surgery. Yes it's "only" 230 cal per serving, but 15 g protein is too low, and the worth is 38g carbs!!! the goal of the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver, so you have to go low carbs.

My surgeon's pre-op diet was for two weeks : two shakes per day plus a dinner (protein like chicken or fish with non starchy veggies).
    The shake I make today has 193 cal, 33 g protein, 10 g carbs and 4 g fat. But when I was in pre-op I didn't use the PB 2 so carbs was 5 g.

May be you should contact your doctor's office for some advice on what brand is better in your case. Take care.

    Hi Sandra

    Thank you for your reply.

My hospital they gave me a list of the pre op shakes we could have whilst on the 2 week liver shrinking diet. Unfortunately they are adamant we cannot eat ANYTHING literally not even a grape The options were slimfast, Adkins shakes or 3 other store brand shakes, all to be made up with semi skimmed milk. We cannot add any extra protein powders either. After surgery for the first 2 weeks it's soup, slimfast (or alternative) shakes, complan or broth. I researched what others have here and on other WLS forums and it would seem it varies country by country.

Guess we have it rough here in the U.K.

As long as it gives me the results I need to go one and have my knee surgery I'll just have to grin and It
