Sorry to hear you have regrets.

I personally did not go forward into surgery by the gastric sleeve advice I may or may not have gotten.

I did intensive research on my own and consulted with two surgeons. I went in knowing full well of the risks and complications, but the way I was going I'd be dead soon enough or I would not have the quality I'd want due to diabetes and other metobolic problems.

If you are looking to validate your feelings, I understand and I feel for you, but it would serve you best to work with what you have and make the best out of it. Seek medical support if you are having health issues, or look for cognitive therapy if your issues are more emotional than physical.

    Best of wishes.

Thank you for your reply S
I used a Spire hospital. My nurse told me to stay off forums as they were negative. But I wish I had talked to people. I was desperate to lose weight.

Why do you regret it? I'm sorry it wasn't what you had hoped. I've done tons of research and you're the first person I've heard say they have regret. .

    Hi
I've had no support and lots of things I was told before my op just weren't true. I'm only 2 stone lighter and still have 4 stone to go. I used to eat a lot but fairly healthy. Now I just snack on bad stuff and my hair doesn't grow. It's not what I hoped for.

Stop snacking on bad stuff. Eat how you were taught to eat before you had the surgery. You will lose the weight.

it is a huge adjustment but you have to eat your protein 60-70 grams daily and get your veggies and fruit in. Your hair is not growing because you probably are low on nutrients. get back to healthy eating and make sure you take you multi-vitamin to boost minerals you may miss if you can't get all you fruits/veggies in after the protein. You can do this and you'll be glad you had it done once you get some support and start loosing weight again.

2 stones that's 28 pounds! When did you have your surgery? Because usually to lose that amount just with a diet, it could take up to six months.
You talk about stones so I'm guessing you are writing from England. Did you go private for your surgery? because a team would offer nutrition classes during the process. If you're aeting junk right now, you might need support about nutrition, learning how it works for your body.

It took me years to decide to have the sleeve: years of research. I've been reading every book/study/publication I could find about the subject.
It's not a walk in the park or a magic wand. You need to do your part.
Of course we are all desperate when we decide to have a part of our stomach removed to lose weight! who wouldn't be!
And your hair will grow back at some point if you take your vitamin and have enough protein every day. It does for me and my hair is falling all the time for any reason. It did fall a lot from month 3 to 6. I'm one year out next week, it's starting to look better.

We don't get to be obese in two months, the weight will not vanish in two months either. Give it time.
I know it's hard, and after 20 years of failed diets believe me I still do have doubts and fears. But so far the sleeve is saving me from myself! I can't eat huge amount of food any more, and anyway I'm not starving anymore!
I eat the best food available and because the quantity is small I always try my best to find the best quality.

I will be happy to help you if you have any question. You can PM me anytime.
And many fellow sleevers here will do the same. Many nice people here to give you advice, some of them are two years out or more and very successful, they can help too!
    You are not alone!
    Welcome to the forum!

I second what Sandra3 says. You can't compare your path to someone else's but you can get support and ideas here. Follow the program and use this surgery as a tool.

What exactly were the lies you were told?

The sleeve does not make you lose weight. It nudges you to reduce the amount of food you eat but you will have to change what you eat to lose a lot of weight. I just had mine done a couple weeks ago and like others I put in my research before I did it. The best support and information has come from this forum. Stick around and learn what's what,.. then you might feel better supported and better prepared to alter your diet so you can lose that weight!

So what things were you promised that have turned out to be false? Where you given any dietary guidelines or just discharged to fend for yourself? Does your program offer any nutritional, or better yet, psychological support programs?

It's not too late to make changes for the better and make the sleeve work for you. If you're snacking on junk food you're not helping yourself. Just because you're eating less doesn't mean you can eat unhealthy foods. I'd suggest starting back from square one. A liquid diet then start slowly adding back puréed then soft then real foods. Count your protein, take your vitamins and supplements, get enough water, and exercise. This place is full of support but you will need to put in the work too. I don't regret my sleeve one bit. Are you ready to get back on track?? You can do this.

I think you need to share more information about your disappointments so we can give advice on them. If you were sleeved then you will lose weight, but you need to follow a healthy eating plan and take vitamins and drink plenty of fluids. We can assist you on this and you can succeed. Share and you will be amazed by the great response you will have.

    Good luck.
