I am having my surgery through WeightLossAgents, with Dr. Almanza in Tijuana, MX in a week. Choosing a surgeon will likely depend on which of those two things is MOST crucial to you: price or excellent surgeon/facility reputation.

My surgery is costing me $3799 (plus $250 deposit). IF I had had a bit more money available (through financing, etc) I would have definitely gone with "Dr. A" I recommend going to Youtube and searching for #AskDrA. I would DEFINITELY have chosen him and his facility & staff if I could have. I do not regret my choice of Dr. Almanza, I am just saying I was limited financially. Dr.A is about twice the cost (apprx 8k)

Definatly research and ask questions. I've been online looking for some months. In June my friend went to Mexico and had her sleeve done with Dr Quinones at Pompeii. She had a great experience and I'm going with him. He finances. Is working with my on what day I need to go and come because of work. Good Luck!

I had mine done in Mexico and Dr. Hernandez did my surgery. My surgery was on 08/11/2016 and it was the best decision I ever made. I have lost a total of 81#'s and am so happy. I was pre diabetic and had extreme high blood pressure and now I have none of those symptoms. Good luck you are about to start a new journey of your life.

Going to Mexico is slightly different then shopping for a Dr at home, where your insurance would probably dictate to some extent who you could go to. I decided on Dr. Verboonen. For me, it was because I wanted to have surgery in Cancun. Had I wanted to go to Tijuana, I would probably have chosen a different surgeon. No way to tell. But I can say that I chose my surgeon because out of the 3 or 4 surgeons available in Cancun, I thought he had a mix or good experience doing lap-band revisions and he is also a wls patient. He has a lap-band. Now coming from the east coast, it made financial sense in booking my ticket. The price I would be paying for the surgery in Tijuana would get swallowed by the price of flying out to the west coast. Anyhow...I am having surgery very soon. Pre-op diet is in effect.

I'm wondering how long I would need to be off work. I work at home so I assume I'd only need to takeoff for surgery and travel time.

I'm going on a Friday for friday surgery and leaving Monday back home. Possibly returning to work Tuesday or wednesday. as long as all is good, Dr said if I feel up to it I could return to work tuesday. I have an office job so able to take it easy.

Yes, I met one person on this site, and we came in together. You will be nervous, I went myself and only told one family member. Dr. Q's staff was wonderful, I have had no issues. It really will give you a new chance on life...dont regret any of it...

Hi, I too am going through Weight Loss Agents for my sleeve in Mexico. My surgery will be done by Dr. Almanza who has a great reputation, and I believe, is a Weight loss patient himself. I personally know five people who have been sleeved by him or his partner, Dr. Hernandez. All of them have had a good, positive experience and are doing well. They all said the hospital is small, but very clean, and they each had excellent care by the doctors and the nursing staff. The hotel they have you stay at also has nurses on staff 24/7 for your comfort. One thing I really like is that they pick you up at the SAN Diego airport and provide all transportation while you're there. Full service! Not sure if other docs provide this service, but it was attractive to me. My husband is going with me and we're looking forward to the trip. I'm a little nervous, but totally excited about getting sleeved!

Good luck with your search. My insurance wouldn't cover anything. I am a RN and had a patient that came to Mexico for his surgery. He had nothing but good things to say. I investigated the facility - Mexico Bariatric Hospital and am currently in Tijuana. I am scheduled to be sleeved tomorrow am. I am have been very, very impressed with all the staff so far from the driver that picked us up at the airport to the lab tech, the internist, etc. I am feeling much more excited at this time then nervous. My surgeon on Dr. Valenzala. Good LucK!

I also used WLA... in Tijuana, Mexico.... Dr. Hernandez was my surgeon... everything was great... I did not feel uncomfortable about my decision.... I went alone, and told only my husband, my daughter and her boyfriend.... U will b in very good hands.... I cannot stress enough how wonderful everyone was....very competent, very polite, very helpful.... the entire time... I flew in on a Sunday, had my surgery on Monday, and left on Thursday... they really have their system worked out very well.... It is an amazing operation and they take care of every detail for u....so u dont have to worry about anything...everything was included in the cost of $3799 , including $250 deposit.... however, u pay separately for ur flight into San Diego...good luck and best wishes...
