Thanks for sharing. The first article is very good into the inner thoughts I had pre-surgery. I fortunately have not had the same stinking thinking post surgery the two subjects had post-surgery. I think it should be said by the surgeon from the article that you should not set huge long term goals like this but to work in small step goals and celebrate achieving them. Where I end up and when I end up there is not important but to set monthly goals and figure out you get there is more important.

Thanks for sharing Sandra. I read the first article, I am glad that someone has taken the interest to write about Bariatric surgery, even though it is limited to only two participants whose experiences aren't that different. I skimmed through the second which left me wanting to scream "it fix my early Type 2 diabetes and lowered my cholesterol drastically!!! I also watched the video, which left me with mixed feelings. Jessica's revelation about depression not being the cause of obesity, but the other way around hit home! There was something dark and somber about the video. But I understand it was probably the story she wanted to tell.

I feel extremely blessed that through the self compassion I have learned and embraced this past year with the six months preop and the work that I have done these seven months post op with continuing meeting with nutritionists, personal trainers, my therapist and my medical doctors I have been able to overcome some personal demons.

I haven't lost my sweet tooth or hunger pangs, but luckily I have learned some strategies to help me cope, and when I do give into a craving two things happen Taste is disappointing and I cannot eat much of it, which has helped me to give in less and less.

Luckily, I'm blessed to have a partner who has always made me feel beautiful and wanted, and even more so now. Not a day goes by that he doesn't tell me how proud he is of me. Not because i had surgery, but all that I did to prepare for it and all that I continue to do afterwards still.

Thank you for sharing again! Definitely puts some things in perspective for me.

Thank you so much! According to one of the articles I read, my new normal might be about 197 pounds. I'm 5 foot 9 inches and a big girl, hundred 97 pounds would be awesome! I remember the last time I weighed 197 pounds, it was 10 years ago and I was jogging for an hour a day. I would so love to get back to that! Thanks again!
