    Default Stitches/Staples - epidural

Did you get stitches or staples? Any chance Ill get dissolvable stitches? My past surgeries are gallbladder and 3 C-sections, Ive been lucky enough to have dissolvable stitches for all. I'm scared to have to see a Dr and have them remove them later. (I know silly but scared with lots of things here LOL)

I was watching you tube videos and I thought someone said they were receiving an epidural shot also....Is this true?
I remember those from C-sections and they hurt like hell, scared of that also!!

I had stiches. They had to be removed by a doctor 10 days post surgery. Having the stitches removed did not hurt. In fast, it kind of tickled.
Of course the internal stitches dissolved.

I set up my post op appointment, when I booked my surgery. They say you can remove them yourself, but I wasn't going to try.

Oops! I ignored your other question. No epidural. They put you out, so no painful shot in the back.
It really was fairly painless. I was very surprised.

I also had dissolvable stitches and surgical glue. I was sleeved in Texas with Dr. Wright. And I was fully under so no epidural. You should ask your surgeon these questions, though, because every surgeon has their own protocol. I have found this to be true also of pre op and post op diet. It depends on your surgeon and nutritionist. So while we can give our experiences, yours may be different. I can tell you that this surgery is a lot easier than a C-section as I have also had 2 C-sections. Where are you having your surgery?

Body wall closed with internal, dissolvable sutures. Skin closed with glue and steri strips. No epidural. But only your surgeon can answer your questions, specific to you because his technique is not necessarily the same as anyone else's surgeon.

They can't get high enough with an epidural, that's why it's done under general anesthesia.

I had Internal dissolvable stitches and glue with steri strips externally.

I had surgery in Mexico with Dr. Garcia. My staples were taken out the day before I left. The inner stitches will dissolve on their own. They will give you antibiotic cream medication to use when you return to the states. You will get all instructions to take care of yourself. I went to my primary doctor two weeks after my return to insure I was not dehydrated.
