Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks post op. I can't seem to get in as much liquid or protein as I'm supposed to. Anyone else experience this? Suggestions?
Yes. I had the same issues. It was a struggle. I also found that I seemed to tolerate warm liquids better such as broth and creamed soup made with skim milk. I could only drink by sipping. It does get better but I know I was not meeting protein or water goals a that time. Just try to take small sips as often as you can. Focus on one ounce at a time. If you are getting the protein shakes in, you will be hydrated. It is still liquid. I never got dehydrated and I was not getting much in either. It does get better and easier with time. I am almost 8 weeks out (on Thursday) and I still have to make a conscious effort to get in my protein and water. You really don't feel hungry. Meeting your water and protein goals will also aid in the weight loss. If you need to, set the timer on your phone to remind you to drink a little water or protein shake. Good luck!
i think most people do. it will get better as the swelling goes down
Meals and water separately. Because you only have so much space. I was told to drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. When you go to solids it's weird. I use to drink tons of water with my meals. I think not being able to drink and eat together has been the hardest part for me. You have to choose juicier options and chew a lot to produce the extra saliva. Sometimes it's inevitable but if you need the water, your belly will be full fast.
