Default Post-Op Diet / Meal replacement?

    Hi everyone,

I have been browsing through the different protein meal replacement shakes and man those things aint cheap!

I should be drinking about 4 of them a day for my pre-op diet, so any suggestions on what worked for you? I like sour flavors more so than sweet tasting stuff...like iced green tea (yumm) or black tea.

I found one that looks like juice...has anyone ever tried ISOPURE?

I use Premier and have tried chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. They taste the best of the ones I have tried. It's tough to find something palatable that is not one of those flavors! Good luck!

I had tried the clear isopure, both the grape and fruit punch, and they honestly tasted like heartburn and vomit to me. One sip and I was done. Returned both cases. Personally, I don't like sweeteners, and stevia is in everything it seems. Plus, I think it came out to $4 a bottle.
I did come across something called Less Naked Protein. It is expensive to purchase, it was around $80, but for a 5 pound container. I get the Whey protein, I like the chocolate, my husband likes the strawberry. The chocolate is 25g of protein, 6g of sugar per serving. It's only Whey protein, cane sugar, and cocoa powder (freeze dried strawberries in the strawberry flavor) Sugar is very low. I highly recommend it. I use half a serving with 4 oz almond milk, 1 oz frozen banana, some ice cubes, and a scoop of cocoa/pb powder.
Hemp powder is also good, high in fiber, has a nutty earthy taste, might be good mixed with green tea steeped almond milk or something, or plain whey.

    Hated Isopure.

Loved and still love GNC Lean Shake 25 Swiss Chocolate with 170 calories and 25 grams of protein.

You just have to find what your taste buds love.

Isopure is awful, both the drinks and the protein powder. Actually the powder does make me sick! I went with mostly vegan protein powder because Whey is not that great for me. I tried many many brands and since my taste did change post-op, had to give away lot's of unopened (and expensive) containers so my advise is : don't stock up pre-op! Try as many samples as you can.
My fav so far is Sun Warrior (not the organic one) I use the one without flavor, 1 and a half scoop and mix it with PB2, dark cocoa, water and ice cubes. It gives me 30gr of protein and one bib can last more than one month so it's not too bad.

Go to Bariatric choice website and look at their concentrates ( raspberry is tasty) and the proteinex. I like the lemon/lime and grape proteinex with 18 grams of proteinex but even the Syntrax twisted cherry is good to me. It is my least favorite of the 3 but it is good and has 23grams of protein.

Premier Protein is what my doctor recommended and I love them .. there are a variety of flavors to choose from and they taste good.
