    Default Big Upcoming Weekend

I went tonight to pick up a new suit for my step-daughters wedding on Saturday. The buying process was so different from my last experience. The salesman suggested a tailored cut suit instead of traditional. When he suggested that, I thought are you insane, who wants to see me in a suit hugging my curves? Really all it meant was that my shoulders were significantly wider than my waist which I never really knew. Everything I bought, fit me off the rack- Pants, jacket, shirt. Last time, I had to alter the shoulders and the waist of the pants. Practically buying separates instead of a matching suit.

The salesman was right, the suit fit perfectly and now I cannot wait until Saturday when everyone will get to see the newer me. This one purchase alone has changed the way I view myself and it feels GREAT! Having this surgery has been a lifesaver in many ways. I hope that everyone can feel this joy. It is a simple non-scale victory I never thought I would experience that I just wanted to share.

Amazing! Have a lovely time. At my daughter's wedding I was fat, and the photos are so embarrassing.

Now if you know any single girls in Dallas, I have a single son, and will look GREAT if he ever gets married!

Greg, congratulations! What a great moment that must've been for you.

Your post gave me a big grin! I think that coming to grips with just how much our bodies have changed so rapidly (and more gradually the changes in our perspectives) is one of the major aspects of massive weight loss.

Yesterday I saw my therapist (have been seeing him for 2.5 years). Among other things, we talked about the many ways in which I'm no longer a fat person and how much more normal that seems to me than it used to feel. I got a glimpse of how much more normal I can become in the coming years. Only someone who's spent most of their life overweight and/or obese can really appreciate these changes.

Although so far (for me) the positive changes haven't stopped, I occasionally have a "Cinderella anxiety" moment -- imagining that if I were to fail to take daily responsibility for my healthy eating/exercise/stress reduction lifestyle my life can turn back into a pumpkin, rats, and filthy scullery existence. (That's a pretty strained metaphor, but you probably know what I mean.)

What a long, strange road this is!

Caveat: As always, others' mileage will surely vary.
