    Smile Let's do this!

Two pieces of advice I give my oldest daughter do not get in debt and do not get out of shape! Two difficult situations to fix so avoid it all together if possible!

I used to see other people who gained weight that I knew for several years and I would always tell myself I would not let myself get to that point Well I am beyond that point sad to say!

In my 20's thru the mid 30's I kept myself in pretty decent shape then after my divorce and a bad relationship break up I decided I enjoyed alcohol more then staying healthy and the weight just kept on packing on!

I am a mother to 3 girls! My oldest is 23 and the twins are almost 3. Big gap! I met my second husband who did not have kids and never married So with the help of IVF we have our twins Prior to getting pregnant I weighed about 220 my heaviest ever. I had been working out with a trainer and had some positive results, no major weight loss but I was loosing and I was the strongest I had been in a long time! But I let the excuse that it was too expensive stop me from continuing

My husband is a very hard worker but enjoys his down time He could sit all weekend on the couch and watch tv in the beginning it drove me nuts because I liked to be busy. I've read that married couples start to pick up the others habits Well sad to say i have become a couch potato more then I care to admit, doesn't help i sit 12 hours at my job. Oh and we both still enjoy the alcohol! Of course this life style doesn't affect my husband like me!

I am now 240, just like many people I avoid looking at myself in the mirror, I do not let my husband see me naked, hate seeing photos of myself

Enough is enough Time to take control I worry people will judge me for doing this but it's about me not them. Also for the record you husband is supporting me with my decision but that he is happy with me just as I am

    HW - 251
    Pre op diet - 242
    day of surgery -231
    One month - 212. -39 lbs
    Two months - 202. - 10 lbs. to date total 49

Eight months. 180 Total lost to date. 71 pounds

I understand your trepidation about people judging you. I have only told my family and close friends. I'm 4 1/2 weeks post op. People think I'm dieting and I avoid eating around people who don't know I've had the surgery. I've been able to fake it when needed. But don't let people not knowing sabatoge your post op eating. Always be prepared for the possibility that you won't have access to a good choice. Luckily we have great cafeterias at work so I know there's always a good option for me. I still can't eat much so I bring my lunch. It's not always easy but definitely this was the right choice for me. I started off at 207 with a 41 BMI. (I'm really short.) So far very pleased but be sure to have a good vitamin regime. Good luck.

I'm still torn on whether or not to tell people. I've told my oldest son, my spouse and my best friend as they are my support network and can definitely keep a secret.

Maybe I'll wait till I've lost a significant/noticeable amount of weight and people start asking me a lot before I decide. I think I'll just keep it to myself till later when I've had more time to gauge the situation.

I remember the first time a friend who had already had her surgery done in the states had told me I should consider Mexico (because my insurance wouldn't cover the surgery). I thought to myself there is no way! Until I did my research and educated myself. Now it looks like I will do this in Mexico. I guess what I am saying is the people you tell if you do, may have the same reaction as I did because they need to be educated too! As long as you are getting healthier that is the main thing!

You are making a good choice. I am 6 weeks post op and have only told my closest friends, husband and children. I tell others that I am trying to be good on my strict diet, and they've seen me diet and lose off and on for most of my adult life, so they're not even suspicious. I, too, only like to eat around people who know, because I don't have to pretend that I "had a big lunch" or some such thing.

I have told some, but what I eat at lunch, I work in a hospital.. not too much food and so slow.. afraid it will give me away.. will have to hide to eat?
Another problem I fly up to my job the hospital, so I have limited foods I can take thur TSA, It might mean I put whatever I eat in a box and act like it is luggage.
I am in an OR room for hours and that is going to affect the sips Of water I need to sip hourly
Oh it will all work out, always does.
Grateful I have good quality problems and was allow to get this WLS.
