Help....anyone

I found out today that our insurance at work will not cover bariatic or weight loss after Jan ...I am 4 mo into the process and going to have surgery in Feb.....I am heart broken I want this so bad and have been doing so good... We have Well mark ins and I am being told that they require 6 mo ...anyone else have this issue and or what options . MY Dr will do Surgery tomorrow if it wasn't such a crap shoot...HELP

Sorry to hear this!, I was heartbroken as well when i found out my insurance didnt cover the sleeve surgery. I am contemplating going to Mexico for the surgery and self paying there. There is alot of research to do in order to find a surgeon I am comfortable with though. I have narrowed the list down somewhat but am still looking! Hope we find the solution! A little prayer never hurts!

My insurance doesn't cover WLS under any circumstances. I went to Mexico 3 years ago, had an easy, pain free recovery, no complications, lost all my excess weight and have kept it off. Best money I ever spent.

Dr. Ariel Ortiz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence, teaches laproscopic technique in the US and Canada, has conducted the original research for the Lapband and new Obera ballon. His facility, Obesity Control Center is an International Center of Excellence dedicated specifically to bariatric surgery. They have done over 16,000 surgeries with a complication rate 1/10 that of the US average. You deal with him and his staff directly, no middle man medical tourism coordinator. They have a dietician on staff, available for consult if you ever need their services.

Just saying there are high quality medical options available that don't involve the bureaucratic world of insurance BS.

OK folks here we go... Surgery on the 19th started pre-op today,physical in the morning and scopes on Friday....I truly believe that my Mom in heaven had a heart to heart with the good Lord above and he is in my side....so protein shakes and liquids for the next 13 days...this is going to be the beginning of the rest of my life!!! thanks everyone for the prayers

good for u.... glad u were able to work it out.... even tho Mexico is an extremely viable and affordable option for many of us who had bariatric exclusions....

Glad it all worked out! My insurance does not cover this and I plan on being in Mexico next month getting it done.
