Hey guys.
So my surgery in a few days. I was told to start my liquid diet diet tomorrow. Other than water and crystal lite, they gave me a few other options. Any other suggestions ?
I liked a big mug of hot sweet (with equal) tea before and after dinner so always had something in front of me. And Premier Protein shakes from Costco...the vanilla flavor is great in coffee. The time goes by fast...just make sure you have planned your days drinks/food out in advance. Being organized helps make good decisions.
I'm with ginger I had 2 shakes and 4 ounces of lean meat each night. All the times between I was drinking water or nursing on a box of broth. Chicken beef veggies and turkey, it seen like I was a drunk fat girl with a box full of broth instead of wine lol. Just remember for you flight to and from surgery keep bullion cubes with you. They saved me heartache at the airport be a useful I couldn't have anything else. I don't know where I got my willpower at then end but I was so good I'm proud of myself
My doc has me ensure I counted carbs and kept it less than 20g per day on the prep diet so that the liver would get smaller which helps them in the surgery to have more room over the stomach and to be able to hold the liver up an off the surgical area. The premier shakes were very helpful and portable. They have 5 g of carb per shake. I also was surprised to see my bariatric advantage chewable vitamin had 5g carb so I counted that also since i started those a week before surgery. 20g a day tallied up fast so I was diligent in not going over and my surgeon was delighted with my pre op prep.

Has anyone ever used the Atkin's shakes? They are high in protein, and they only have 1 to 3 carbs per shake, depending on the flavor. I don't know if they would be good for the pre-op and postop diet or just postop after your off the clear liquids. Does anybody know anything? They also have these drinks that are proteins infused low sugar or sugar-free vitamin water tight drinks. I guess I could ask weight-loss agents about them. I'll keep you guys posted on this thread and if you know anything please let me know. Atkin's diet shakes and drinks are pretty tasty!
