I had my sleeve procedure on Sept 28th and so far I have lost 40 pounds. My goal is 100 lbs. So far so good. However, I can honestly say that I have learned more from the group's dietician and this Forum than from the doctors at Texas Bariatric Specialists. There seems to be very little communications between patient and doctors or even their so called "patient advocates". The one good thing about Texas Bariatric Specialists is they are very good working the insurance companies. They know what each company wants to get the surgery approved and they make sure they have all their ducks in a row. A big negative for me was they only do the surgeries in San Antonio. Iwent to SW General Hospital in San Antonio and while I hate all hospitals, this one was the worst!!! Only 50% of the nurses seemed to care at all about you as a patient.
Anyway, long story short, I am glad I did the surgery and I sure hope I can make the 100 lb goal. I am giving myself about 18 months for this to happen. If not, I will be disappointed but at least I will have lost some weight and changed my lifestyle.
