Taken the first step

Hi, I have taken the first step and met with my doctor today October 24th 2016. I will be having the Gastric Sleeve surgery and I have the Nutrition appt. Monday and then the physiologist appt. the next Tue. I am not sure what is to follow or how long it will take to get the Insurance to approve the surgery. I am excited and nervous of the total change that my life is about to make. Any help, information and suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I'm new too.. I need to go 6 mo for insurance to approve. Meet once a month with Dr and nutritionist..Then 1 meeting with pshyc Dr to prove I'm not crazy or do anything bad. I need to lose some weight not a big amount just always have to show a loss before surgery. So I started 2 mo ago and taking one day at a time. Dr told me ...No bread, pasta,rice and absolutely NO soda. Nothing after 7pm...so the 1st couple weeks were a little tough, but I want this so look bad that it was easy...like I said I'm new also and read everyday what ppl post..that really been my saving grace. Oh yeah and start some kind of excersise. but since early summer I've been pool walking and stretching so that helps with bad joints,..cool jojo55 that the help I can give you

I can't speak to how long re: insurance approval. I was self-pay in St Augustine, FL. You've come to by far the best site for support, no-nonsense suggestions, knowledge, wisdom and experience.

It's normal to feel anxious/nervous/scared/excited all at the same time. This is a life changing decision...for the better.

I highly recommend watching Dr Matthew Weiner videos on YouTube. They're full of useful information, both pre-op and post-op. I used the wait time to practice healthy post-op behaviors. Surgery date will be here before you know it!
