    Hi all my name is Bernadette and I had gastric sleeve done about 5 and a half months ago best thing I did. I am 51 yo. I have a question I am going to have a Cataract surgery tomorrow .normally people have to fast for 6 hours , I have to fast for 24 hours and included in this the last 12 hours I can't have anything. has anyone heard of this before.plz I am starving lol and yes this is because I have the sleeve

    Not familiar with the preop protocols for cartaract surgery, but it does seem odd that they are extending it because of your sleeve. If anything, your GI tract will empty sooner because there wouldn't be nearly as much in there to start with. I was on liquids for 24 hours and then fasted for 24 hours prior to my colonoscopy....Other than the prep solution that makes you sh1t your guts out....so it could be worse. In any case, you can do it. Not eating and feeling hungry for one day never killed anyone.

    It should just be NPO after midnight. I don't know how this practice sedates for their procedures, but I don't put anyone to sleep just numb the eye with drops and a little relaxing happy meds. Sounds like overkill to me ;(
