I haven't posted on here in awhile but things continue to go well for me. I seem to have landed at about 166 pounds. I might be able to lose 5-10 more pounds but, if I never do, I'm pretty happy where I'm at. I went from a size 24 to a size 8/10 but really my life has changed for the better in so many ways beyond just the numbers. Increased self-esteem and confidence, better ability to do things and be out in the world, and a calm peace of mind about my health, eating and weight - you couldn't put a number on any of those things.
Life is good
But the purpose of this post is to ask anyone with cosmetic surgery experience for some advice. Like most 100+ losers, I have extra skin. I can more or less live with the lower half of my body - the tummy and the thigh skin - because it doesn't really show through my clothes and, okay, so maybe I don't put the bikini on at the pool. But my upper half, my arms, and my neck and face, are fairly noticeable. I'm 44 but, aging aside, there's a lot of loose skin under my neck and I have jowling on the lower part of my face. If this is the best it's going to get for me, I know I'm not going to be happy in 5-10 years. And I could definitely see people staring at my arms this past summer. It's not pretty.
So, I'm scheduled for 12/15 for brachioplasty (arms) and a full face lift. I have the option of breaking it into two surgeries or doing it in one 6 hour long surgery. I'm not 100% thrilled with either option. I have younger kids and an intense job - 2 separate surgical recoveries makes things harder, not to mention the expense and risk of the 2 surgeries. So that makes me lean towards getting it done in 1.
But these are not easy surgeries. A 6 hour surgery is not something you just stroll into and I've heard cosmetic work is way harder than the sleeve or other surgeries and so I'm wondering if I'm putting myself through a bigger risk and a bigger recovery hell for nothing?
I will add that I have an excellent surgeon/hospital and I also have 3 weeks off to recuperate -- and, if I have to take a 4th week, I can do it. But does anyone have any experience with combining the procedures vs separating them? I've seen people on here combine tummy tucks with arm or breast work but has anyone done arms and face together?
