Hi,
I'm Jeff. I live in SW Florida. My surgery is scheduled for December 8th, and I'm really nervous. I'm 55 and have been obese my entire life. I'm pretty sick of living like this. I hope this tool helps me to over come.. cheers All!

Hello and welcome Jeff. This is a wonderful site full of information. I had the sleeve on July 20 of this year. I'm down 50 lbs already!! This is a wonderful tool. But remember it is only a tool. You still have to do the work. Use the time between now and your surgery date to develop better eating habits cause you will need them for a lifetime. I have also been overweight all my life and yoyo diet forever it seems. This has been a lifesaver for me. It's normal to feel nervous but you are going to do just fine. Good luck to you.
WELCOME!
NE Floridian...
This is hands down the best decision I ever made for me and my health. My ONLY regret is that I didn't do it sooner!
You've come to by far the best site for support, no-nonsense suggestions, knowledge, wisdom and experience.
I used the wait time to practice healthy post-op behaviors. Surgery date will be here before you know it!
Best of luck as you embark on your journey!
One year post op and feeling great both physically and mentally. You will regret it right after surgery for about a week but once the weight starts melting off you will be elated. I'm also 55 and I'm feeling better than ever. Watch youtube videos to prepare you for the upcoming months and for motivation. Follow instructions and you'll do great. Less than a year from now you will agree that it was the best thing you could have done. Good luck and be positive.
Hi Donna,
thanks for the support and insight. I have tried every diet imaginable, and could write a book about them. I never considered VSG as an option, but the more I research , the more it makes sense and yes I can see this will be a very useful tool. Now I wish I am not waiting till December, but it will be here soon enough. I see you are doing great!
I had a question for you....How is your hunger level ? I hear so many mixed comments.
Thanks again, Cheers!
I've been very lucky so far as far as hunger goes. It really hasn't been an issue since I got sleeved. I will be 3 months postop on the 20th of this month. I get that I could eat feeling but not raving hunger like I used to. Everyone is different. My diet consists of protein and veggies with the occasional shake thrown in if I haven't met my protein goals for the day. (I try to get 80 grams a day).

Hi Jeff, I, from Port St. Lucie and my date is Oct 18th and I'm still nervous but I know I need to do this for my health and just reading the positive things here is what helped me make up my mind to do this. I'm tired of being 80 pounds over weight and taking diabetic mess. My family history of diabetes and complications is my biggest fear. Don't want to end up blind, high blood pressure, heart problems, lost limbs and dead before 55. I'm 51, so just focus on the new healthy way of living and ask if it's not worth doing this. Praying for you.
Thanks Vi, I see your coming up soon { 18th}. kind of wish mine was sooner but oh well, it will be here pretty quick I'm sure. so you must be on the liquid diet...Yummy! You will need to let me know about Dr. Hernandez as he is my doc as well. I'm luckily not having any health issues, but I'm sure if I don't do this now, I will be in tough shape in just a few years. Lucky I have good Genes.
Thanks for the support,
cheers!
