I feel guilty

So I told my kids I was having this surgery but I did not tell them I was going to Mexico. I thought I was protecting them because I am afraid they will worry. Why do I feel so guilty leaving this out... Should I tell them?

Honesty is always the best policy. Heaven forbid something go wrong but they would want to know to so they could come and help you.

I think it's also age dependent. If they are older, they can probably handle it. You should still be able to talk with them and video chat or something to let them know you are okay. If they are younger...Mexico might seem scary and just letting them know that you are going to be gone a few days might be fine.

i agree with griffyndor and and julielynn be honest and it also does depend on the childrens ages

When I told my son I was going to Mexico to have the surgery, he cried. He is 11, and was upset because he was scared of me flying that far. He was also worried because he wouldn't see me for several days. I went anyway, and he and Daddy had a wonderful little vacation of their own while I was gone. He's now so happy for
