    Wink Staring the process AGAIN!!

    Hello to all!!!

You're going to be my new best friends!!!!

I had a bad experience 2 years ago with a physician I had seen. I went through all of the pre surgery steps, although still not confident in my decision. Met the surgeon and due to his lack of interest in me as a person, I bailed.

I always say go with your gut and apparently that wasn't the right time for me. Well, I'm definately ready now and I'm confident that this will be a better experience this time.

I personally know nine people who have had the bypass or sleeve and have gained all of their weight back. I will NOT be that person!

    Cheers!!

    Linda

    Good luck and welcome

The sleeve is just a tool which if looked after can work wonders but of course can easily be abused by making bad choices etc. It would be easy to eat chips, cookies, candy, ice cream and drink loads of empty calories if one wanted, but follow the plan and it can be fantastic ! Hope you get a good surgeon this time x

Congrats and good luck. It really is about timing and being mentally ready for such a huge commitment to a lifetime of change. Those nine people will be a great motivation for you. Use them as your example of what NOT to do. Everyone knows I had WLS and their knowing holds me accountable because I WILL NOT be the failed WLS story.

Welcome to the group. I also had a bad experience with a surgeon last year. I jumped through all the hoops required for the surgeon and insurance company over about 4 months and all that was left was for them to submit all the paperwork to the insurance company. They unfortunately dropped the ball and I finally came to the same realization that maybe it wasn't the right time or surgeon and I stopped calling them about it.

Flash forward to now, a year later, and I am currently 7 days postop from having my sleeve surgery. I'm having a pretty easy recovery and other than feeling tired, I have no complaints. I also am scared to death about being one of those who will gain the weight back but I'm hoping it's that fear that will keep me on the right path.

Best of luck to you! It's a great tool if used in the right way. So far I've lost 10lbs since being home from the hospital and every time that scale drops a little I'm reinforced that I made the right choice. I know the weight loss will slow and stall at times but hopefully I'm reach my goals and you will too.

Make your changes and follow the doctors advise and you will do well. Then when it is maintenance, you have to be just as vigilant(from what I hear). Use your honeymoon to change your habits and addictions, that's what the first six months is all about. When you break the addictions, remember they are just that-ADDICTIONS- and you can go back. That's how I view my smoking habit and when I kicked it 16 years ago-not a single cigarette since.
