I lost so much weigh on 2 week liquid diet I'm having second thoughts
If you believe you can keep the weight off for life without some type of weight loss surgery tool, good luck to you.
There's a reason 90 percent of diets fail, leading to complete regain of whatever weight was lost. Keep this in mind while you ruminate and have second thoughts about being sleeved.

Maintaining weight loss is always a problem for many people. I've lost approximately 500 pounds over the years. That is why I am in the 300's now, because I am a chronic yoyoer. If that is something you don't deal with, I would strongly suggest to think about it how long you think you can maintain the pre-op diet. As a fellow nurse suggested, think about what usually happens. I would also suggest you discuss this decision with the surgeon who may perform the surgery and get their input. After considering everything, then make an educated decision about your choice.
One other thing, talk to your friends and ask them what they think. People who know us some times can see things about us that we might not. I wish you the best no matter what your choice is.
Ok, so this thought crossed my mind before. I needed 4 months of weigh-in to get approved by my insurance so by month 4 I noticed I went from 259 to 243 (I was mentally in the pre-op zone and I had not even started the pre-op diet). So, I thought to myself, I can do this on my own. Luckily, I continued to do my monthly doc appointments because here I am now at month 7 and back to 256.
It really all depends on your lifestyle, I've always been a bit chubby, never overweight until after my 1st pregnancy. I've been in the 250's for the past 3 years and I can't handle it, my ankles hurt, my knees pop. I'm in my 30's but feel like I'm 70. Stairs are hard and carrying two toddlers around is torture on my back.
You have to ask yourself, if you do this on your own, will you be able to maintain the weight loss? Will you not cave and go off your diet? We all know it takes a week to lose 3-4 lbs with diet and exercise. We also all know, you can gain all of that back in 1 day.
Maybe you should try it out for a month or two. That's what I did and then I realized, I need the help. I need to do this so I can reach my goal.
Good luck!
