So my birthday will be during week 4 post-op (soft foods) and I'm looking for advice on either places to go or something good to have for my birthday dinner! Any suggestions?? What about a dessert in place of a birthday cake? Thanks in advance!!

Last time we were in DFW we stayed in a swanky Fort Worth neighborhood, there were ghost house tours as I recall, and we ate at a restaurant in the Magnolia district. It was actually really good , I had polenta with a stewed pork dish. I think that would be soft enough for the food stage, but may be too heavy or spicy just coming out of liquid stage. You can always just ordered a steamed or baked sweet potato and some type of flaky fish.
Happy early Birthday!

Do you have to celebrate with food? Maybe go see a movie instead? Or go to an aquarium or something?
Can you wait a month and celebrate then?

I would postpone the birthday celebration and maybe celebrate your 1/2 birthday 6 months after the original date. Those first few weeks are critical for healing and if it isn't on the suggested food list given by your nutritionist I wouldn't have it. If you absolutely have to have something then go to Smoothie King and buy a pre-made smoothie.
If u must celebrate try yogurt..regular or frozen.. Just as good as ice cream, in my opinion... My birthday gift to myself IS the surgery and the weight loss... which I am having the week of my birthday... In fact.. I will b on the plane coming home for my birthday... OMG !!! What was I thinking??!!! LOL ... Celebrate the new u to be...Let everyone else indulge...
There's all kinds of ways to spend your day without it centering around food, cake and ice cream.....
Play Mini golf, have a paint ball battle, go to a play or a movie or a museum, arrange a private painting, jewelry making, or pottery glazing class for you and your friends, go for a hike, go fishing. Blend your favorite protein shake with ice and eat it like a slushy if you've gotta have something sweet. Or mix cottage cheese with Muscle Milk cake batter protein powder....it tastes like cheesecake.
I went through my liquid diet during Christmas, New Year, a funeral, 2 holiday parties, and a birthday party, so I learned real quick it's possible to celebrate anything with friends and family and NOT have to pig out on food.
Four weeks post-op your stomach is not even close to healed yet. You'll be able to eat about 3 ounces of pretty soft food MAX for the whole meal.
If you did choose dessert, you'd be able to eat about one bite of it.
Finally here's a serious protip: Don't start eating sweets during your honeymoon period (first six months post-op), which will be your fastest weight-loss period. Sweets are a trigger food for many of us. And since you're already dreaming of sweets, I'm guessing they're one of your trigger foods.
Happy birthday!

One of my best birthdays was an impromptu day at a super clear lake when my kids were young.
